  • ATHLETICS: Jones to appear on...

When he was younger, Keaton Jones would go to his grandmother’s house after school and fix himself a snack, and then settle in front of the TV to watch “Ninja Warrior,” a Japanese sports entertainment show.

It featured a four-stage obstacle course that competitors would try to conquer, and Jones was enthralled by all of the action. He dreamt of getting the chance to do something like it in the future.

  • PREP BASEBALL: Eagles fall to...

The Campbellsville Eagles have felt doubted from those outside the program all season long.

But the players refused to listen to the naysayers, never losing belief in what they could achieve in 2018.

That belief propelled them to win the 5th Region All ‘A’ Tournament and eventually the 20th District Baseball Tournament for the first time since 2013. Then came the 5th Region Baseball Tournament, which many viewed as wide open with three or four contenders for the title.

  • PREP BASEBALL OPINION:...

When you get where you're goin'
    Don't forget turn back around
Help the next one in line
    Always stay humble and kind

Losing is never fun, especially when it’s the last game of your career.

  • PREP SOFTBALL: Taylor falls in...

For the second time this season against the Green County Dragons, the Taylor County Lady Cardinals dug themselves a big hole.

And for the second time this year, the Lady Cards nearly climbed all the way back.

They just ran out of time Monday afternoon at Marion County.

  • PREP BASEBALL: Eagles win...

The Campbellsville Eagles steam rolled their way to the 20th District Baseball Tournament championship last Thursday night.

Freshman John Orberson led the way, going 4-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and three runs scored, while junior Ryan Kearney was 2-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs as Campbellsville blitzed Adair County, 16-4 in five innings.

The Eagles (18-16) won their first district title since 2013, when they beat rival Taylor County for the championship.

  • PREP SOFTBALL: Lady Cards fall...

Marion County sophomore Haley Mattingly threw a complete game two-hit shutout as the Lady Knights beat Taylor County, 3-0 in Thursday’s 20th District Softball Tournament championship game.

The Lady Cardinals (19-12) never could get on track against Mattingly, getting a double from sophomore Autumn Henderson and a single from junior Mariah Cox.

  • PREP BASEBALL: Cardinals fall in...

The Taylor County Cardinals entered the 20th District Baseball Tournament as one of the top teams in the 5th Region, going a region-best 23-7 during the regular season.

But in the one-and-done nature of the postseason, anything can happen.

Top-seeded Taylor County found that out the hard way in Monday’s semifinal against Adair County as junior left-hander Layndon Carter struck out 11 hitters to lead the No. 4 seed Indians to a 4-0 victory at Campbellsville High School.
