Cards back on top of 20th District

After two frustrating seasons, the 20th District Baseball Tournament title belongs once again to the Taylor County Cardinals.

Junior left-hander Dawson Cole struck out 10 in a complete-game effort, and senior Tate Morris hit a solo home run as top-seeded Taylor County beat tournament host and third-seeded Marion County, 6-1, in Tuesday’s championship game in Lebanon.

Longtime Cardinals coach Jeff Gumm said Cole was locked in from first pitch. He threw 56 of his 79 pitches for strikes while giving up one hit, one unearned run and one walk.
