  • Ruth Bradshaw Shope, 89

    Ruth Bradshaw Shope, 89, of Elizabethtown, Ky., formerly of Campbellsville, Ky., died at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2008, in Elizabethtown.

    Daughter of the late Cary U. Ware and Ida Pearl Coomer Ware, she was born on May 1, 1918, in Taylor County. She was a member of Green River Memorial Baptist Church and was retired from General Telephone Company after 23 years of service.

    She was married to Ivo Bradshaw on Jan. 9, 1947. He preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 1985. She later married John Shope on June 8, 2002. He survives.

  • David L. Quisenberry, 86

    David L. Quisenberry, 86, of Campbellsville, Ky. died at 11:55 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, in Elizabethtown, Ky.

    Son of the late Chester Quisenberry and Lillie Franklin Quisenberry, he was born on July 16, 1921, in Taylor County. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He achieved the rank of corporal. He had worked as a bulldozer operator, construction worker and with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

    He was married to Ruth Wingler on March 28, 1948. She survives.

    Hester Phares, 99, of Taylorville, Ill. died at 8:18 p.m. on Sunday, April 20, 2008, at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

    Daughter of the late Harry and Anna Baker McPeek, she was born on May 10, 1908, in Moweaqua, Ill.

    She married Orrin R. Phares on June 12, 1926. He preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 1991. She was a member of Crossroads Apostolic Ministries in Taylorville and was a homemaker.

  • Bert Stotts, 98

    Bert Stotts, 98, of Columbia, Ky. died Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Ky. after a long illness.

    Son of the late Frank and Geneva Campbell Stotts of Adair County, Ky., he was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II veteran and a retired farmer.

    He was married to Mary Elizabeth Stotts, who preceded him in death on May 10, 1989.

  • Danny Bishop, 61

    Danny Bishop, 61, of Campbellsville, Ky. died at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in Campbellsville.

    Son of the late Wathall Bishop and Edna Clark Bishop, he was born on Oct. 27, 1946, in Taylor County. He was a member of South Campbellsville Baptist Church and had been employed at Ingersoll-Rand for many years.

  • Jerry K. Pickett, 68

    Jerry K. Pickett, 68, of Berea, Ky. died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at his home.

    Son of the late Lindsey and Lena Christine Ingram Pickett, he was born on Nov. 20, 1939, in Green County, Ky. He was a member of Silver Creek Baptist Church in Berea and was a senior financial officer for Process Manufacturing in Richmond, Ky. He was active in the Jaycee's in London, Ky., was a charter member and had held every office of Laurel County Kiwanis Club, and had worked as a senior financial officer for three companies.

  • Veora Helen Robertson Lyle, 91

    Veora Helen Robertson Lyle, 91, of Green County, Ky., died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at her home.

    Daughter of the late William Jefferson Robertson and Callie D. Brown Robertson, she was born on May 4, 1916 in Green County. She was a member of Little Barren Separate Baptist Church and was a Green County school teacher for 35 years before retiring. She was also owner of Lyles Market.

    She was married to Luard Bernice Lyle on April 6, 1935. He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1975.

  • Laverne Faulkner Buzzee, 94

    Laverne Faulkner Buzzee, 94, of Metcalfe County, Ky., died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at the Metcalfe Health Care Center in Edmonton, Ky.

    Daughter of the late Willie Faulkner and Sally Mae Finn Faulkner, she was born on Oct. 3, 1913 in Green County, Ky. She was a member of Maple Hill United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.

    She was married to Howard Finn, who preceded her in death. She later married Harvey Abbott, who also preceded her in death. She later married Milo Buzzee, who also preceded her in death.

  • Pauline Gentry, 81

    Pauline Gentry, 81, of Columbia, Ky., died at 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Russell County Hospital in Russell Springs, Ky., after an illness.

    Daughter of the late Johnny A. and Mary Jane Burton Goodin, she attended New Hope Separate Baptist Church and, along with her husband, Robert Gentry, was owner/operator of Gentry Grocery in the Ella community.

    Her husband survives.

  • Chester R. Goodin, 84

    Chester R. Goodin, 84, of Indianapolis, Ind., died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital.

    Son of the late Elmer and Lottie Goodin, he was born in March 1924 in Adair County, Ky. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army's 580th Ambulance Division. He served in the "Battle of the Bulge" and earned European, African and Middle Eastern theater ribbons, a Good Conduct Medal and a WWII Victory Medal. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Office after 30 years of service. He was a member of Parc-way Assembly of God in Indianapolis.
