Two area boys’ doubles teams have qualified for the KHSAA State Tennis Championships next week.

Taylor County’s Tanner Parks and Tyler Perkins played Campbellsville’s Cody Davis and Cass Kidwell in the semifinals of the 5th Region Tennis Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at Freeman Lake Park in Elizabethtown.

Parks and Perkins, the top seed, beat Elizabethtown’s Ameer Haider and Nathan Johnson, 7-5, 6-2 to advance to the semifinals. Davis and Kidwell, the No. 5 seed, topped Central Hardin’s Braden Bybee and Jack Kisselbaugh, 6-2, 7-6 (5).

Taylor County’s Dallen Rodenburg was the only unseeded player to advance to the quarterfinals. Rodenburg fell to No. 2 seed Bryce Spalding of Marion County, 6-2, 6-4. Campbellsville’s Jackson Hunt also reached the quarterfinals, falling 6-0, 6-2 to Elizabethtown’s Matthew Smith.

On the girls’ side, Taylor County’s Megan Canada and Sammy Hughes were the area’s only quarterfinalists. They lost to Elizabethtown’s Ann Bell and Abby Henson, 6-1, 6-1.
