Campbellsville residents will have a chance to hear from each of the six candidates vying to be the city’s mayor.

A political forum is set for Tuesday, May 1, at Campbellsville University’s Ransdell Chapel at 7 p.m.

Incumbent Mayor Tony Young, who is seeking a third term in office, as well as challengers Brenda Allen, Sharon Hoskins-Sanders, Patricia “Patti” Phillips, Roger Robertson, and Steven Seibech have all agreed to participate in the forum, according to event organizers.

On May 22, voters will go to the polls and cast their ballots. The two mayoral candidates who receive the most votes will advance to the general election in November.

Candidates will be asked a series of questions by a panel of students from Campbellsville University. They will have two to three minutes to answer those questions. Questions are being taken from community members through a Facebook page set up for the event, as well as via email and letters.

Questions can be emailed to adswan68@gmail.com. Those in attendance will also have the chance to write down questions they have that will be given to candidates, which the candidates can choose to answer at a later time provided the individual provides contact information.

The forum will be open to the public, but audience members will not be permitted to directly ask questions of the candidates. Signs, cheering, clapping, etc. also will not be permitted from the audience.

The event will be broadcast on WLCU-TV, on Comcast Channel 10 and available on digital channel 23.1 for those who have an antenna. It will also be live-streamed on CU’s website at https://www.campbellsville.edu/about/media/wlcu-tv/
