Shirley Kilby Matney was honored with a surprise 60th birthday party on Sunday, July 3, at the Green River Lake Corps' Pavilion.

Jenny Netherland was honored with a bridal shower on June 11 at the home of Jill Chandler. Netherland married Jim Miller on July 26 in Hilton Head, S.C.

Taylor County Republican Women's Club presented a book to the Taylor County Public Library, honoring the Mamie Eisenhower Library Project. The book "Heartbeat" by George Bush was given in memory of Bernice Miller.
