Taylor County fell behind 10-2, but tallied 21 straight points to highlight an 86-62 season-opening triumph over Washington County on Tuesday night.

The Commanders hit their first four shots, including a pair of three-pointers, to take the early eight-point advantage.

But senior Josh Gumm scored 10 quick points for the Cardinals and Lloyd Stotts came off the bench for five points and an assist in a 40-second span.

Chase Cox had 13 of his 17 first-half points in the last 1:43 of the second quarter.
