Lee (Tenn.) University used three early home runs to pin a 5-2 loss on the Campbellsville University baseball Tigers in the opening game of the Avista-NAIA World Series on Friday in Lewiston, Idaho.

The Tigers never overcame the Flames' 4-1 start as the 2008 national runners-up hit three long balls in the first four innings.

Campbellsville got a home run from catcher Jimmy Voelker in the second and a bases-loaded walk to Brian Chase in the third.

Lead-off hitter and center-fielder Tyler Derby and third-sacker Chris Curley had two hits each and Marc Wilson went the distance with seven strike-outs for the Tigers, who played again on Saturday.
