Columbia Police make an arrest after tip from Taylor County Sheriff's Office

A Columbia man was arrested by the Columbia Police Department on Monday on charges of receiving stolen property that was stolen in Taylor County, according to a report from the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office.

Joshua Sexton, 26, of Short Street in Columbia, was arrested by the Columbia Police Department on Monday after an investigation by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office and Columbia Police.

A report from the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office states that deputies were dispatched to the Highway 55 area of Taylor County on Friday regarding the theft of an enclosed utility trailer.

The report states that during the TCSO investigation, victim information about the theft was posted on social media, which led to a tip that the trailer may be located in Columbia.

Upon further investigation, law enforcement officials were led to an address on Short Street in Columbia.

On Monday, officers from the Columbia Police Department and Taylor County Sheriff’s Office located the stolen trailer behind the residence on Short Street.

Sexton, who was a resident at the address according to the TCSO report, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property more than $500 and was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail.

Sexton was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail at 9:36 p.m. Monday.

The report states that additional charges resulting from the theft of property from Taylor County are currently pending.
