Ronnie Dooley also appointed as deputy director for Emergency Management

By Josh Claywell

The Taylor County Fiscal Court voted to hire Anne Mercer as the next director of the Taylor County Animal Shelter in Monday’s special-called meeting at the Taylor County Courthouse.

Mercer takes over for Cole Bland, who resigned after two weeks on the job. Mercer was already an employee at the shelter and has been there just over a month, Judge-Executive Barry Smith said.

The measure passed 4-1 after a roll-call vote. District 1 Magistrate Dr. James Jones was not in attendance.
