  • Ramsey brings in huge cat at...


    J. Ramsey has caught more than his share of fish — throughout the state and south.
    But, on Friday afternoon, he caught a huge flathead catfish (just under 50 pounds) within a half-mile of his home at City Lake, where he still fishes at least four times a week.

    Ramsey, 27, used a spinning rod and a bass crank bait to make the catch. It weighed just under 50 pounds.

    Wayne Baxter has forgotten more about sports than most of us will ever know — especially about University of Kentucky athletics.
    The retired 4-H agent reminded me last week that the Little League State Tournament at Miller Park in 2004 consisted of a player who led the University of Louisville to two consecutive College World Series appearances.

    The Phillies captured the Division B title with a 13-2 regular-season worksheet and took two of three games from the Dodgers to claim the overall Pee Wee League baseball championship this summer at Miller Park.

  • Holmes competing in 16th major...


    Campbellsville’s John “J.B.” Holmes tees off this afternoon at 1:36 on No. 10 in the U.S. Open Championship in Pinehurst, N.C.
    Holmes will be playing with Gary Woodland and Graham DeLaet and will tee off No. 1 tomorrow morning at 7:51.
    Coverage will be on ESPN on Thursday and Friday and on NBC this weekend.
    It will be his fifth appearance at the U.S. Open, the same number of times he has played in the British Open and the PGA Championship. He played in the 2008 Masters and will make his second trip to Augusta, Ga. in April.
