    Taylor County made it 22 victories in 26 outings with a 74-66 victory over Lincoln County in the Jock Sutherland Classic at Lafayette on Friday night.
    After trailing by eight (20-12) at the first-quarter stop, the Cardinals stayed in front for most of the fourth period until the Patriots cut it to two (68-66).
    However, TCHS hit six straight free throws for the final margin. The Cardinals were led by Brandon Berry’s 25 points while Quentin Goodin added 16 (11-12 free throws), Cam Morgeson 14 and David Sloan 11.

  • Three-point second dooms Eagles

    Campbellsville’s seasonal bugaboo continued as the Eagles could not overcome a three-point second quarter and dropped a 59-48 crucial district decision at Adair County on Friday night.
    The Eagles (10-13) needed the victory to avoid Fifth Region favorite Taylor County in the first round of the 20th District Tournament in two weeks in Paul J. Coop Gymnasium.
    However, after starting with a 16-12 deficit in the first frame, coach Tim Davis’ club trailed 29-15 at half-time due to the Indians’ 13-3 second frame.

  • Lady Cards fail to score in OT...

     

    Taylor County ended regulation on a 19-7 run, but did not score in overtime to fall at Marion County 47-38 on Friday night.
    The Lady Cardinals (10-14) trailed 31-19 midway in the third quarter, but used four Sarah Botkin free throws to ignite the comeback.
    Rachel Shoemaker, who finished with 21, tallied 11 of TCHS’ 12 fourth-period points and knotted the game at 51.4 and 26.3 in regulation.
    Marion County hit seven of eight free throws in overtime.

  • Lady Indians record 20th

    James Turner’s Adair County's Lady Indians won its 20th encounter of the season against only five setbacks with a 59-34 home-court victory over Campbellsville on Friday.
    Beth Owens led three ACHS players in double digits with 16 points while Alex Keltner contributed 13 and Harlee Smock 13.
    The Lady Indians connected on 20 of 29 free throws while Campbellsville was 7-8.
    Vonnea Smith paced the Lady Eagles with 11 points while Brenna Wethington added nine.

    TCHS bass fishing team hosting chili supper on Friday during TCHS basketball twinbill
    The Taylor County High School bass fishing team will be having a chili supper on Friday, Feb. 13 from 5-8 p.m. as TCHS hosts LaRue County in a girl/boy basketball doubleheader as well as homecoming. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased from any team member or at the door.
