    Junior right-hander Ian King pitched a five-inning no-hitter and Taylor County’s Cardinals improved to 9-0 with a 10-0 victory over Louisville Moore in the General Classic at Thomas Nelson on Tuesday.
    The Cardinals scored nine of their runs in the first three innings as Tyler Frogge, Jordan Nicholas and Daniel Carney, the 1-2-3 batters in the order, had two hits apiece and Carney had five runs batted in while Frogge had two while scoring thrice.
    John Robert Wood and Tyler Franklin also singled in the eight-hit TCHS attack.

    Taylor County continued its softball domination by rolling past John Hardin 16-1 in four innings on Monday and Breckinridge County 13-3 in five inning sin encounters on Clark Field.

    Karissa Mings got the win vs. John Hardin while fellow senior Becca Orberson got the W against Breckinridge County.

    Taylor County (8-0) hosted defending Fifth Region champion Central Hardin on Wednesday and will play at Metcalfe County on Thursday.

  • TCMS softballers open campaign

    Taylor County Middle School’s A (eighth-grade) softball team stands 2-1 in the early going after defeating Barren County and Elizabethtown before falling to Marion County.
    The Lady Cardinals opened with an 8-2 triumph at Barren County as Beth Veach, Sarah Botkin and Mariah Cox had two-hit games and Kenzie Carney went the five-inning distance to get the win.
    Sydnee Beard, Carney, Necole Isaacs, Kailey Thompson and McKenzie Cox also had hits for coach Sherri Botkin’s team.

  • Eagles stop short skid with 13-3...

     

    Campbellsville High (3-5) stopped its four-game losing streak in a big way with a 13-3 triumph over Spencer County on the Eagles’ home turf on Thursday night.
    CHS came out with hot bats and used good pitching from Chase Thomas (nine strike-outs) to prevail in five innings.
    Cody Houk had two hits and knocked in five runs while Julian Piece had two doubles and three RBI and Zach Durham three hits and two RBI.
    Thomas and Barrera each added singles for Kirby Smith’s team.

    Taylor County’s Lady Cardinals captured tennis matches over Marion County, Thomas Nelson, Campbellsville and Barren County over a five-day stretch while the Taylor County boys’ squad went 3-1.

    Taylor County High School improved its baseball won-loss ledger to 7-0 with a 5-1 home victory over Hart County on Wednesday and a 13-2, five-inning triumph at Green County on Thursday.
    Jordan Nicholas picked up the complete-game victory vs. Hart County with four strike-outs, no walks while scattering four hits.
    Justice Gregory and John Robert Wood had two-hit games for the Cardinals while Dalton Brown doubled and Tyler Frogge, Daniel Carney and Hunter McQueary singled.
