David Parsons is TCHS’ inductee into this year’s Fifth Region Athletic Directors’ Hall of Fame.
Parsons played basketball and baseball for Taylor County High School from 1966-1969 before attending Campbellsville University, receiving his degree in physical education and history.

  • CU men best Rio, lose to Tech

Seniors are supposed to stand out and they did on Thursday night for coach Keith Adkins’ Campbellsville University Tigers in their 74-62 home victory over Rio Grande on Feb. 3.
The Tigers led by only one (37-36) at the intermission when Adrian Whelan was fouled on a three-pointer at the horn. However, Campbellsville broke away from a 46-44 second-half deficit with a 16-2 run started by Reggie Smith’s three-pointer and sparked by JaVaughn Espritt’s 11 points.

  • Lady Tigers knock off West...

Ginger Colvin’s Campbellsville University Lady Tigers downed visiting West Virginia Tech 94-75 and, with Shawnee State’s loss at Virginia-Wise, moved two games ahead in the Mid-South Conference race.
The Lady Tigers, who moved to No. 3 in this week’s NAIA Division 1 ratings, used the strong play of seniors Whitney Ballinger (28 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, three steals and two blocked shots) and Courtney Danis (18 points) and junior Courtney Clifton (15 points) to improve to 19-3 overall and 12-1 vs. Mid-South foes.

  • Cards bounce back from Marion...

Taylor County lost a hard-fought 45-43 decision to Marion County on Monday before claiming a 57-46 encounter with Washington County on Tuesday.
The Cardinals led by 11 (23-12) in the first half and still held a 29-19 advantage on Chase Seaborne’s hoop early in the third quarter.
However, the Knights scored 11 straight points to take their first lead and then used a Carlos Litsey lane basket at 2.0 to move to 5-1 vs. district foes.
Tevin Webster (12) and Caleb Wigginton (10) scored in double figures for TCHS and Seaborne had nine.

The third quarter was the huge bugaboo on Monday as Green County won that frame 31-9. Slone had 14 vs. the Lady Dragons.
The CHS girls’ squad (5-17) visits Bethlehem on Friday.
