  • Marion County Lady Knights,...

    Marion County used a strong fourth quarter to repeat as Girls’ Fifth Region Tournament champions 53-52 over Elizabethtown on Saturday night in Lebanon.
    The Lady Knights used eight points, including a pair of three-pointers from tourney MVP Kyvin Goodin-Rogers to overcome a 42-35 deficit.
    It was the sixth straight year that the Lady Panthers (29-4) had been in the title game. E-town won titles in 2006, 2008 and 2009.

  • CU men hoops' team hosts...

    Campbellsville University will have a chance at two more home games this season. After the Tigers’ NAIA Tournament hopes came to an end with a Mid-South Conference Tournament loss last week, CU will now serve as the No.1 seed in the Mid-East Region of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Tournament.
    Campbellsville (16-15) will host Tennessee Temple on Thursday in a 7 p.m. tip-off at Powell Athletic Center.
    The other region semifinal Thursday night will be between No. 3 Victory Christian and second-seed King College.

    Campbellsville University dominated the final six minutes Sunday to blow past Shawnee State University 72-58 in Farnham Dudgeon Arena and claim the 2011 Mid-South Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament championship.
    The win is Campbellsville’s fourth time to win both the MSC regular season and tournament titles, and first since 2004, ending a two-year run as regular season champ but tournament bridesmaid.

    Lady Tiger seniors go out in style
    The Campbellsville University Lady Tigers had a senior moment Saturday afternoon, but fortunately it wasn’t one endorsed by the AARP.
    Saying goodbye to six seniors who have led Campbellsville to 103 wins, the Lady Tigers dismantled the University of the Cumberlands 101-72 for their 32nd conference win in their last 33 starts.

    Shawn Savage’s five first-half treys ignited Campbellsville University to a 37-22 half-time advantage en route a 79-60 home victory over Lindsey Wilson College on Thursday night.
    Lindsey Wilson scored the first five points, but Tigers built a 20-point lead as Savage had 15 points, JaVaughn Espritt 10 and Caleb Harris eight in the first half.
    The onslaught continued after intermission despite Savage hitting only two three-pointers and two free throws in the second half..
