  • Eagle boys win see-saw affair at...

    Despite shooting 57 percent (30-53) from the field, Marion County dropped a 74-71 district decision to visiting Campbellsville on Friday.

    CHS trailed 21-17 before going on a 13-0 run in the first half and led by as many as 11 (37-26). However, Marion County (4-9) used a 19-2 sprint of their own to gain a 51-43 advantage in the second half and led by as many as nine.

  • Lady Knights blast Lady Eagles...

    Marion County’s Lady Knights (11-2) raced out to a 24-0 lead and cruised past the Campbellsville Lady Eagles (2-12) 63-22 on Friday night in Lebanon.

    Eighth-grader Makayla Epps paced Marion County with 22 points and Ashyya Robinson had eight for Campbellsville.

    The 14th Annual Coca-Cola/Campbellsville University Holiday Classic will run four days starting on Saturday in Paul J. Coop Gymnasium at Campbellsville High School.

    Defending champion Casey County heads the list of girls' teams at the 14th Annual Coca-Cola/Campbellsville University Holiday Classic scheduled for Dec. 27, 29 and 30 in Paul J. Coop Gymnasium at Campbellsville High School.

  • Lady Eagles taste first season...

    It may have taken 10 games, but Cameron Jackson has finally notched his first triumph as Campbellsville High School girls’ head basketball coach when the Lady Eagles bested Buckhorn 72-61 on Monday afternoon for seventh-place in the Queen City Classic at Somerset.

    The Lady Eagles (1-9) placed all five starters in double figures, led by all-tournament performer Amber Gamboa with 22 points while Tiffany Slone had 14, Ashyya Robinson 12 and Danielle Morris and Bronte Karr 10 apiece.

  • TC Cards fall in OT to LexCath

    Taylor County battled back from a double-digit deficit to lead by eight in regulation before falling to Lexington Catholic 75-72 in overtime on Monday night in the 28th Annual Canfield Development King of the Bluegrass Holiday Classic at Fairdale High School.

    The Cardinals (5-3) trailed by 13 (38-25) in the first half and were still behind by 11 (50-39) after a Taylor Botkin lay-up with 4:30 to go in the third frame.

    However, Taylor County went on a 21-2 run to lead 60-52 with less than six minutes remaining in regulation.

  • Eagles place second to Glasgow

    Campbellsville upended Todd County Central in Monday’s semifinals but came out cold and fell 59-46 to host Glasgow on Tuesday night in the championship game of the T.J. Samson Community Hospital Holiday Classic.

    The Eagles (3-4) used the double-digit scoring of Matthew Davis (18), Bryton Taylor (15) and Thomas Downs (11) to roll past Todd County Central 74-51.

    However, CHS missed 50 of 68 shots in the 13-point setback to Glasgow 24 hours later.

    Downs did record a double-double (13 points and 12 rebounds) while Taylor had 16 points.

  • Locals earn top district...

    Taylor County High School’s Chris Thomas has been named Class 3A District 5 Player of the Year.

    Thomas was joined on the 21-player squad by fellow Cardinal seniors Leonard Macon, Justin Hoosier and Zack Mings and TCHS juniors Lance Turpin and Andy Hunt.

    Wayne County’s Shawn Thompson was tabbed District Coach of the Year.

    Campbellsville placed six players on the Class A District 6 team — seniors Michael McCubbin, Zach Altman, Taylor Price and Casey Hines and juniors Thomas Downs and Bryton Taylor.
