  • Lady Knights send Lady Cards home

    Marion County scored the first 22 points in the 20th District Tournament on Tuesday night and rolled to a 71-36 victory over Taylor County in John Burr Memorial Gymnasium at Adair County High School.

    Brooke Roberts started the Lady Knight onslaught with three first-quarter three-pointers and the Lady Cardinals did not remove the zero from the scoreboard until Marsha Kessler hit a pair of charity tosses with 7:07 left in the second quarter.

    Taylor County's first hoop came on Mercedes Cox's three-pointer with 3:32 before the half.

  • Tigers, Lady Tigers complete MSC...

    Campbellsville University men's and women's basketball teams swept a home twinbill from Saint Catharine College on Saturday afternoon.

    The Lady Tigers, 24-4 overall and 9-1 vs. Mid-South Conference foes, stayed on top of the league race with an 87-54 triumph over the Lady Patriots.

    Wendi Messer led CU with 15 points while Kristi Ensminger added 13 and reserve forwards Corin Dunn and Jarobia Hill nine and eight points, respectively. Hill also had 10 rebounds.

  • Davis-led Eagles nail Nelson 61-...

    Sophomore guard Matthew Davis hit four three-pointers and scored 22 points as the Campbellsville High School Eagles concluded regular-season play with a 61-50 road win over Nelson County on Friday night.

    Juniors Thomas Downs and Bryton Taylor added 12 and 10 points, respectively, for coach Tim Davis' troops.

    Campbellsville (17-10) plays Taylor County in the 20th District Tournament on Thursday (7:30) at Adair County.

  • Lindsey Wilson wins MSC twinbill...

    Campbellsville University dropped a Mid-South Conference doubleheader at Lindsey Wilson College on Thursday night.

    The No. 9 Lady Tigers saw their 10-game winning streak stopped with a 60-48 setback to the No. 21 Lady Raiders in the opener.

    Coach Ginger Colvin's team hit only 18 of 61 shots (29.5 percent) and committed 21 turnovers.

    Whitney Ballinger paced the Lady Tigers (23-4) with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

    The CU men fell 66-58 in the nightcap.

  • Lady Tigers qualify four for...

    Campbellsville University's swim team has qualified four swimmers in seven individual events and five relay teams for the National NAIA Swimming and Diving Championships on March 4-7 at the Rec-Plex in St. Peters, Mo.

    Meagan Pickett and Lyndsay Ritchey, Brooke Cato and Tori Reiss secured national times in the breaststroke, freestyle and backstroke, respectively, and relay teams have qualified in the 200 free, 200 medley, 400 medley, 400 freestyle and 800 freestyle races.

  • TC nips John Hardin 61-59

    Taylor County overcame a double-figure deficit and upended John Hardin at home 61-59 on Friday night.

    The Cardinals (21-6) trailed 29-19 late in the first half, but rallied to score eight of the quarter's final 10 points and were behind only 31-27 at the intermission. TCHS hit only 10 of 30 first-half shots and committed 14 turnovers against the Bulldogs (19-7).

    Taylor County used a 10-0 run in the third quarter to take a 42-38 lead as Michael Coulter had three straight baskets and Shane Morris and Leonard Macon back-to-back hoops.

  • Lady Eagles double up Fort Knox

    Campbellsville's Lady Eagles used a balanced scoring attack to roll over visiting Fort Knox in their home finale 60-30 on Thursday night.

    Amber Gamboa paced CHS with 19 points while Ashyya Robinson and Danielle Morris had nine apiece and Bronte Karr eight with double-digit rebounds.

    The Lady Eagles (9-18) ended the regular season with a 90-42 loss at powerful Nelson County on Friday and will play in the 20th District Tournament on Tuesday (8:30) at Adair County. Taylor County plays Marion County in the 6:30 first game.

  • Cards make it seven straight

    Taylor County won its fifth game in an eight-day stretch and notched their seventh straight win with triumphs over Christian County on Saturday, Green County on Monday and at Nelson County on Tuesday.

    Coach Troy Young's Cardinals (20-6) edged Christian County 71-70 in a make-up game on Saturday as Chris Thomas knocked a loose rebound to Michael Coulter for a 10-foot baseline, game-winning jumper.

    Leonard Macon had 14 of his team-high 21 points in the third quarter as Taylor County overcame six- and seven-point deficits.

  • Lady Cards divide close...

    Taylor County split a pair of close tilts as the Lady Cardinals concluded regular-season play with a 13-12 worksheet.

    Coach Jenny Jessie's club used a 19-9 fourth quarter to come from behind to best Spencer County 48-43 in the Duke's Sporting Goods/Chick-fil-A Valentine's Day Classic at John Hardin on Saturday morning.

    MeLeigha Pollock paced the Lady Cardinals with 18 points while Mercedes Cox and Hope Wigginton added nine and eight, respectively.

    Taylor County dropped its home finale 46-44 to Hart County on Tuesday.

  • Tigers pummel OSU-Mansfield 100-...

    Campbellsville University's men's basketball team put a halt to its nine-game losing skid by demolishing Ohio State University-Mansfield 100-51 on Saturday night in the Powell Athletic Center.

    Coach Keith Adkins was able to play his substitutes extra minutes in the blow-out triumph with Jonas Bohm and DeMario Thomas totaling 19 points apiece. Bohm also had a game-high nine rebounds and Thomas handed out three assists.

    Hristo Petkov continued his steady play with 15 points while Terrill Holley also added 12 points and eight rebounds.
