  • Lady Cards sweep Lady Eagles

    Taylor County won all three sets to defeat visiting Campbellsville 25-13, 25-19, 25-14 in high school volleyball on Tuesday night.

    The Lady Cardinals also won two hotly-contested junior varsity encounters.

    Campbellsville hosts Adair County on Thursday while Taylor County will travel to Thomas Nelson.

    The Greyhounds (3-1) own wins over Jackson County, Paintsville and Trimble County by a combined 121-34 before falling last week at home to Nicholas County (57-20).
    Freshman James Clark (No. 3) and senior Marcus Champs (No. 4) have rushed for 330 and 233 yards, respectively, while senior Nathaniel Stevens (No. 5) has passed for 334 yards and five touchdowns.
    Campbellsville leads the overall series 2-1 after last year’s 32-0 win in Paris.

    Green County rolled to a 28-0 half-time cushion and led 34-0 before Campbellsville scored en route to a 58-28 Cow Bowl triumph at Campbellsville University on Thursday night.
    The Dragon trifecta of Evan Jaggers, Elliott Taylor and Weston McDermott accounted for 48 of the GCHS points while Josh Roe had two Eagle scores and Hayden Webb and Kendon Young one apiece.
    Campbellsville plays its last pre-district game when the Eagles host Paris on Friday.

    Taylor County made it a school-best 4-0 start with a 40-0 homecoming romp over Breckinridge County on Friday night.
    Sophomore quarterback Hunter Christie played a hand in four of the six Cardinal scores with two touchdown runs and two scoring passes.
    Daulton Turpin’s 60-yard run gave Taylor County the only points it would need with only 2:22 elapsed in the first frame.
    New Cards’ kicker, Aaron Gray, made the first of four extra points for a 7-0 cushion.
    After Cody Bast recovered a fumble, Christie kept around left end for a 10-yard tally.
