  • 9-10s are District champs

Washington County may have fallen victim to a pitching limit rule, but credit Campbellsville for making the best of it as the host team won the 5th District Little League championship with a 5-2 come-from-behind victory.

The 9-10s will begin play in the state tournament this weekend in Richmond.

Washington's Michael Chastain had a no-hitter going for 5 1/3 innings, that is until he reached the 75-pitch limit. Chastain's replacements didn't have the same command.

  • 11-12s headed to state

It's probably a good thing that Campbellsville's 11-12-year-old All Star coach Tony Frogge is married to a physician, because his team has been trying to send him into cardiac arrest for the past two games.

Campbellsville pulled its second straight come-from-behind win, a 9-5 affair over Washington County Tuesday night at Miller Park, to claim the 5th District title. The team starts play in the state tournament this weekend in Richmond.

  • Taylor, Downs in All-Star game...

Campbellsville High School seniors-to-be Bryton Taylor and Thomas Downs will play for the West team in the Kentucky High School Coaches' Junior All-Star basketball game on Saturday at Bellarmine University.

The West team consists of players from the Fifth and Sixth Regions while the East squad is made up of players from the Seventh and Eighth Regions.

Taylor competed recently in the B/C Camp at Georgetown College while Downs is considered a Division 1 prospect in football, being observed at summer work-outs by Kentucky, Louisville and Western Kentucky.

  • C-ville 10-11s are District...

Campbellsville stormed through round-robin play in the 5th District 10-11-year old Little League Tournament at Miller Park and did the same in the finals, defeating Washington County 13-3 in four innings.

The local squad won all four of its games by an average of 10 runs.

Washington County trailed 9-0 before posting a three-run third.

  • Little League Stars post first-...

Campbellsville's Little League All Stars posted first-round victories in District Tournament action last week at Miller Park.

The 9-10s bested South Hardin 10-3 on Tuesday.

Chase Thomas got the pitching win while Spencer Agee had two hits (single, double) and Thomas, Zack Bottoms, Will Miller, Jordan Cowherd and Chandler Stewart contributed singles.

The 10-11-year-old squad run-ruled Washington County 10-0 on Tuesday with Austin Hash getting the victory.

  • CU hoop Tigers to play Cats in...

Campbellsville University's men's basketball team will play the University of Kentucky in an exhibition game on Monday, Nov. 2.

Keith Adkins' 2009-2010 team will have an opportunity to do something no other CU team has done on the hardwood - play the University of Kentucky in Rupp Arena.

Making the exhibition even more special is the fact that the Wildcats have a new coach in John Calipari and what some observers say is the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation.
