    Green County’s Lady Dragons tallied 39 of the final 52 points to sprint past Campbellsville 69-43 in a Touchstone Energy Fifth Region All “A” Classic first-round game on Monday night in Greensburg.
    The Lady Eagles used a 11-2 run of their own to tie the game at 17-17 early in the second quarter.
    Cameron Jackson’s outfit took leads of 20-19 and 22-21 on a Tiffany Slone three-pointer, and two Slone free throws and also led at 25-23 on Heather Watson’s trey and 26-25 on Belene Garcia’s charity toss.

    Hart County used a 20-8 second-half run and Lindsey Burd stole an in-bounds pass with 6.8 seconds to hold off the upset-minded Taylor County Lady Cardinals 60-57 on Tuesday night.
    Taylor County (11-5) led 44-37 after a pair of Hope Wigginton free throws before the Lady Raider spurt.
    Mercedes Cox (17), Elizabeth Thomas (14) and Wigginton (13) reached double digits for TCHS.

    The trifecta of Caleb Wigginton, Tevin Webster and Trae Wells spearheaded the Taylor County 75-35 rout of Hart County on Tuesday night.
    The freshman Wigginton hit five of his six three-pointers and scored 17 of his game-high 24 points in the first quarter as the Cardinals raced out to a 27-5 advantage.
    Webster, a senior, tallied nine baskets for 18 points, along with 10 rebounds and four blocked shots while Wells, a junior, had 11 assists without making a basket.

    Campbellsville University’s Lady Tigers connected on 36 of 43 free throws for an 85-76 Mid-South Conference decision over Pike-ville College on Thursday night in the Powell Athletic Center.
    The No. 3-rated Lady Tigers (12-2 overall and 5-0 against conference foes) led by nine (35-26) at the break before the pesky Lady Bears (9-5, 0-5) trimmed the deficit to 55-54.
    However, coach Ginger Colvin’s club used a 10-3 run and never looked back as Campbellsville’s charity stripe shooting was paced by Whitney Ballinger’s 14-17 effort.

  • Tigers lose at home to Pikeville

    Campbellsville University fought back from a 15-point half-time deficit but could get no closer than three in the second half and dropped an 87-76 Mid-South Conference home game to Pikeville College on Thursday.
    After the Bears (14-3 overall and 3-2 in the MSC), led 44-29 at the intermission, coach Keith Adkins’ Tigers (9-6, 3-2) out-scored the visitors 18-8 to trail by only five (52-47) with 16 minutes to play.

    Campbellsville High School’s Lady  Eagles posted their fourth victory of the season with a 37-16 Monday night home win over Portland Christian.
    Coach Cameron Jackson’s club led 21-12 at the half and out-scored the visitors 16-4 in the second half.
    Tiffany Slone led a balanced CHS attack with 13 points while Brittany Vaught added eight and Heather Watson and Masi Wilson six apiece.
    Vaught also grabbed six rebounds and Slone had eight steals.

    Defense has been the central theme of Campbellsville University head coach Keith Adkins’ sermon all week, mainly to hold opponents below 65 points.
    That’s exactly what happened in Monday’s Mid-South Conference makeup game, as the Tigers held University of Virginia’s College at Wise to its lowest offensive production of the season in a 74-55 home win at Powell Athletic Center. It’s the 20th win all-time against the first-year Mid-South Conference member.
