  • Taylor teams reverse sweep at...

    Webster's free throws ice TC 36-30 triumph.

    Senior Tevin Webster grabbed two defensive rebounds and hit four free throws in the final 22.2 seconds to enable Taylor County to edge Adair County 36-30 on Tuesday night in Columbia.
    The Cardinals (8-10) trailed 4-1 early before taking the lead for good at 5-4 on Chase Seaborne’ lay-up and held seven-point leads in the second (21-14) and third (27-20) quarters.

  • Holmes starts sixth year on PGA...

    John “J.B.” Holmes will open his sixth professional golf season when he tees off Thursday in the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines near San Diego, Calif.
    And he will be swinging new clubs as he is switching from Cobra to Callaway Golf. The move was officially announced Tuesday in a press release from Callaway Golf.

    Campbellsville High School had little trouble in disposing of Washington County 83-52 on Wednesday night in a Touchstone Energy Fifth Region All “A” Classic semi-final game at Caverna.
    The Eagles, who were to play the Bardstown-Caverna winner in Saturday’s title tilt, rode the 20-point effort of Jordan Percell to lead 45-26 at intermission.

    More than a decade ago, two of my English Setter bird dogs disappeared in different incidents. One was never found, the other returned.
    Then several years ago, my two rat terriers escaped from the motor home while parked in a remote section of a campground in North Little Rock, Ark. I spent a sleepless night until they returned just before daylight. Having perts disappear when traveling is especially worrisome.

    Campbellsville University used a balanced offensive attack Saturday to down St. Catharine College 92-69 and opened a five-game Mid-South Conference road trip victorious.
    The win gives the Lady Tigers sole possession of first-place in the MSC at 7-0 as University of the Cumberlands fell on the road to Shawnee State University.

    Jordan Percell hit 10 of 13 shots and scored 25 points with 10 rebounds to lead Campbellsville past Green County 58-49 in a first-round game of the Touchstone Energy Fifth Region All “A” Classic in Greensburg.
    CHS needed a late 12-7 fourth-quarter charge to hold of the Dragons as Davis scored six and Taylor four during the run.
    Matthew Davis added 16 for CHS while junior reserve Tevin Taylor totaled eight.
    Tanner Durrett and Skyler Shively led Green County with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

    Green County’s Lady Dragons tallied 39 of the final 52 points to sprint past Campbellsville 69-43 in a Touchstone Energy Fifth Region All “A” Classic first-round game on Monday night in Greensburg.
    The Lady Eagles used a 11-2 run of their own to tie the game at 17-17 early in the second quarter.
    Cameron Jackson’s outfit took leads of 20-19 and 22-21 on a Tiffany Slone three-pointer, and two Slone free throws and also led at 25-23 on Heather Watson’s trey and 26-25 on Belene Garcia’s charity toss.
