  • Keltner claims Super Late Model...

    Jason Keltner of Campbellsville claimed his first 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model feature victory of the season on Saturday evening at Bluegrass Speedway to become the fifth different winner in the division so far in 2009.

    Timmy Glazer of Bardstown scored the $300-to-win Street Stock special feature event while Jason Wheatley of Loretto was victorious in the Modified main event and Pat Hagan of New Haven won the WBRT 1320-AM Sportsman feature.

  • McCubbin scores 17 at State...

    Senior Michael McCubbin concluded his Campbellsville High School athletic career by scoring 17 points at the KHSAA State Track and Field Meet at the University of Louisville on May 23.

    McCubbin, who also excelled in football and basketball for the Eagles, finished second in the 400-meter dash (51.49), third in the 200-meter dash (22.69) and sixth in the 100-meter dash (11.33) in Class A competition.

    Ricky Buckner's sixth-place showing in the 800-meter run gave CHS its other three points for a total of 20 and a tie for 13th in the team standings.

  • Lady Cards drop 5-2 semi...

    In regular-season games this year, the Taylor County and Washington County softball teams were separated by one run in a two-game split.

    On Monday in Radcliff, in the first round of the Fifth Region Tournament at North Hardin, the two teams couldn't have been further apart.

    Taylor County used 16 free passes, served up by two Commanderette pitchers, and run-ruled WCHS 12-0 in five innings.

    "Anything can happen, and we certainly didn't expect this," said a dejected Commanderette coach Christy Baker. "Too many errors, walks and no hitting."

  • CU Tigers ousted from NAIA World...

    Campbellsville University was eliminated form the Avista-NAIA World Series on Saturday 6-5 by Southern Polytechnic State (Ga.)

    For the Tigers, their first trip to the NAIA World Series was made up of lost opportunities in Lewiston, Idaho.

    The Tigers left 21 base runners stranded in two games (13 on Saturday).

    Campbellsville led 2-1 and 4-3, but left five runners on base in the last three innings while trying to rally against the Hornets.

  • Eagles eliminated by 12-2 by...

    Campbellsville never trailed but had to battle Green County to the wire before posting a 5-3 triumph in the final first-round game of the Fifth Region Baseball Tournament at John Hardin.

    The Eagles (15-12) led 1-0 before the first lightning delay on a double by Ben Janes and a Green County balk.

    CHS made it 2-0 in the third when Zach Altman was hit by a pitch, stole second and was singled home by Aaron Schwoebel.

    The Dragons used a double from Chavis McDermott and a single by Justin Givens to cut its deficit to 2-1.

  • Cards clip Nelson, no-hit by E-...

    Taylor County raced out to a 10-1 lead and posted a 12-10 triumph in the Fifth Region Baseball Tournament at John Hardin on Monday.

    The Cardinals (19-15) tallied a run in the first inning on back-to-back doubles by Jacob Wise and Joel Hardesty before sending 13 to the plate in the second and scoring nine runs.

    Chase Roution and Wise had two-run doubles before Hardesty singled. Tyler Yates' two-run single made it 8-1 and Blake Dudgeon's safety put Taylor County up 9-1 before Dudgeon tallied the 10th run on a double steal.
