    Crazy things happen in Mid-South Conference play. In a month that’s seen an ESPN Top 10 play and buzzer beating wins, one of the most unpredictable performances may be the fourth-ranked Lady Tigers’ 86-58 win at No. 12 Lindsey Wilson College in the Biggers Sports Center on Monday night.
    “With as talented as they are and as well as they’ve been playing, if anybody were to tell me that we’d win by 28, I’d say they were crazy,” CU head coach Ginger Colvin said.

    Taylor County’s girls’ and boys’ squads swept a doubleheader from Campbellsville at home on Monday in make-up high school hoop play.

    In girls’ action:
    Brittany Vaught tallied the first hoop for the Lady Eagles, but the Lady Cardinals reeled off 12 straight points and then led 36-19 at half-time en route to a 60-30 victory.
    Taylor County (13-7), which closed the first half on a 6-0 run, scored the first 13 points of the second half before Heather Watson’s top-of-the-key three-pointer ended the 19-0 run.

    Tigers take double-digit win at Shawnee State
    Trailing by as many as eight in the first half, Campbellsville University switched its defense and chipped away at the Shawnee State University Bears en route to a 69-58 win in Mid-South Conference action Thursday.

    Taylor County’s boys’ hoopsters came back from a five-point deficit in the third quarter to defeat visiting Green County 60-52 on Thursday night. However, the Lady Cardinals could not hold a seven-point, second-half advantage and fell 41-34 in the opener.
    The Cardinals used a 15-2 run to overcome a 28-23 Dragon lead as seniors Trae Wells (six) and Tevin Webster (four) tallied 10 points in the rally and TCHS hit eight of its first nine free throws in the fourth quarter to build a 55-41 cushion.

    Campbellsville High’s boys’ basketball squad moved into second place in 20th District play with a surprisingly easy 57-33 home triumph over Adair County on Friday night.
    Lake Wiseman tallied eight early points and the Eagles led 10-3. Wiseman tallied 11 of his 15 points in the first half while Matthew Davis had 11 of his game-high 18 in the second half and Jordan Percell hit all six of his shots for 13 points.
    Percell notched another double-double with 10 rebounds while Jaqil Taylor dished out seven assists.

    Eagles rebound with road win
    Campbellsville’s boys won every quarter in downing Washington County 62-41 on Tuesday night.
    Jordan Percell paced the Eagles with 24 points and 10 rebounds while Matthew Davis scored 15 and Tevin Taylor 11.


    Lady Eagles fall to Commanderettes
    Tiffany Slone had 15 points in the Campbellsville High Lady Eagles’ 58-31 road loss at Washington County on Tuesday.

  • Bardstown beats CHS in title tilt

    Campbellsville High’s boys failed to repeat as Touchstone Energy Fifth Region All “A” Classic basketball champions when the Eagles were out-scored 34-20 over the last 10 minutes and dropped a 69-66 decision to Bardstown on Saturday night at Caverna.
    Jordan Percell continued his strong play with a 22-point first half and the Eagles led 34-28 at the break.
    The CHS advantage grew to 11 (46-35) as Matthew Davis tallied eight third-quarter points around hoops by Taylor Levi and Jaqil Taylor.

    Webster's free throws ice TC 36-30 triumph.

    Senior Tevin Webster grabbed two defensive rebounds and hit four free throws in the final 22.2 seconds to enable Taylor County to edge Adair County 36-30 on Tuesday night in Columbia.
    The Cardinals (8-10) trailed 4-1 early before taking the lead for good at 5-4 on Chase Seaborne’ lay-up and held seven-point leads in the second (21-14) and third (27-20) quarters.

    John “J.B.” Holmes will open his sixth professional golf season when he tees off Thursday in the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines near San Diego, Calif.
    And he will be swinging new clubs as he is switching from Cobra to Callaway Golf. The move was officially announced Tuesday in a press release from Callaway Golf.
