  • Lethargic Eagles flattened by...

    If a team ever needed an off week, it's probably the Campbellsville High School Eagles who were pummeled 47-0 at Marion County on Friday night.

    After a first quarter of "give-away checkers" in which the Eagles threw two interceptions and the Knights coughed the pigskin up twice, CHS (2-6) could not take advantage of a first and goal at the Marion County 9-yard line.

  • TCHS golfers 10th at state

    Taylor County High School's boys' golf team finished 10th at the Leachman Buick-Pontiac-GMC/KHSAA Boys' State Tournament on Saturday at Bowling Green Country Club.

    Coach David Parsons' Cardinals just made the cut by shooting 322 Friday (only 12 of the 25 teams advanced to day two) and moved up two spots with a 324 on Saturday.

    Senior Dillon Mays paced the Cardinals with a two-day 148, which tied for 10th while Tanner Keeton tied for 53rd (160), Wade Cave and Landon Newton tied for 66th (169) and Nolan Slinker was 78th (178).

  • UVA-Wise leads from start to...

    Despite 151 yards from the school's all-time leading rusher Greg Fountain and a five-touchdown passing day from freshman Ross Deaton, Campbellsville University never led in a 61-41 Mid-South Conference road setback at Virginia-Wise on Saturday.

    Fountain, who scored a touchdown, carried the ball 25 of the 41 times for the Tigers while Deaton threw for 253 yards on 18 of 33 passing.

    Deaton connected twice with David Mason and former Campbellsville High School standout Bubba Lawless and once with Calvin Mann.

  • Bengals, Titans still in first...

    The Titans and Bengals maintained their one-game leads in Junior and Senior League battles in Campbellsville Community Club Youth Football with easy triumphs last week.

    Colts 14, Saints 12

    The Colts remained one game behind the Titans.

    L.J. Haralson's 40-yard touchdown run on the second play gave the Colts an early 6-0 lead before Brayden McVay tied the game with a one-yard run for the Saints in the fourth frame.

  • Bengals go undefeated, Titans...

    The Bengals finished an undefeated campaign in Senior League play while the Titans closed out with a 5-1 worksheet to take the Junior League title.

    Bengals 20, Cowboys 12

    Antonio Barrera's 3-yard touchdown run gave the Cowboys an early 6-0 lead.

    But, Quentin Goodin pushed the Bengals n top with TD runs of 51 and 90 yards, the latter one as time expired in the first half.

    Conner South's 1-yard TD in the third period secured the title for coach Homer Veach's club.

    Jarrett Benningfield tacked on a Cowboys score to finish out the scoring.

  • Thomas hopes to be back for play...

    Despite rumors to the contrary, Chris Thomas does not expect his high school football career to be over at Taylor County.

    The Cardinals' super running back, whose attitude is as good or better than his game, got another medical opinion over the weekend in Louisville.

    "They told me if I rested it for 3-4 weeks, then maybe I would be able to play," Thomas said Tuesday night at the 18th District Tournament volleyball championship.

    Thomas, who was injured on a "normal" football play at home vs. Green County on Oct. 3, has a complete ligament tear in his ankle.

  • Marion snaps Lady Cards'...

    Taylor County High School was denied its fourth consecutive volleyball district title when the Lady Cardinals fell 25-16, 25-21 to Marion County in the 18th District Tournament finals Tuesday night at TCHS.

    The Lady Cardinals led only once (1-0) in the first set before the Lady Knights reeled off six straight to lead 6-1 and held a 10-3 advantage en route to a 25-16 triumph.

    In set two, Taylor County held leads of 2-0, 5-2, 7-3, 13-10 and 14-12 before Marion County fought to ties at 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 and then tallied seven of the match's final 10 points to prevail 25-21.
