  • Walters, Sergent take top senior...

In typical fashion, Campbellsville Country Club opened up their gracious arms once again as they played host to the 2010 Kentucky Senior Golf Association’s Amazon.com Special on Aug. 2.

The golf course conditions were great for the 86 KSGA members who competed in the event as was evident when the scorecards were tallied. Six players recorded par or better scores, all from the first flight.

Add 2010 to 1999 and 2004 as the years Harlan Gaskins has captured the Senior Duffers.

  • Percell continues summer climb...

Campbellsville High School senior-to-be Jordan Percell wasn’t rated in Rick Bolus’ High Potential Basketball Recruiting Service’s top 56 Kentucky list in June of Kentucky’s Top Rising Prospects for 2010-11. However, that could change after the Eagle’s trip to Georgetown last month.

  • Baseball statistics that might...

Hearing that a St. Louis Cardinal first baseman could be the first Major League Baseball player to have a .300 batting average and hit 30 home runs with 100 runs batted in a season for 10 straight years made me research a few baseball statistics that will boggle your brain.

    Here’s a few examples:

    * Only four Major League players have finished their careers with a .300 batting average and at least 300 home runs and 3,000 hits.

  • TCHS grad signs with CU

Once Taylor County High School's Becca Cook made up her mind to continue playing softball in college, she said it wasn't hard choosing Campbellsville University.

Cook put pen to paper Thursday afternoon in the H&W Sport Shop Ronnie Hord Field House on the CU campus and signed on with Shannon Wathen's Tigers. She is the 10th signee of the 2010-2011 class.

Cook played recently with four members of Wathen's recruiting class, one in the East-West All-Star game and three others in the Kentucky vs. Tennessee All-Stars.
