  • Lady Eagles split home twinbill...

    Campbellsville's eighth graders and Taylor County's seventh graders won games in cross-town girls' middle school hoop action Tuesday.

    Brittany Vaught (17) and Heather Watson (6) combined for 23 points in CMS' 25-20 eighth-grade triumph.

    Becca Orberson had eight for TCMS.

    Hannah Howard's eight points led TCMS past CMS' seventh graders 23-8.

    Campbellsville plays at LaRue and Taylor County visits Lebanon tonight in the Central Kentucky Middle School Athletic Conference Tournament.

  • Taylor scores many ways in 45-30...

    Taylor County High School rushed for two touchdowns, passed for three more, ran an interception back for a score and kicked six extra points and a field goal in downing visiting Hart County 45-30 on Thursday night.

    While it was a week later than Senior Night, it was 12th graders who shined brightly during the Cardinals' sixth win of the season.

    Leonard Macon tallied three touchdowns, two receiving and one rushing, while accumulating 249 of TCHS' 456 total yards.

  • Patriots hold off CU Tigers 34-27

    Campbellsville University dug holes of 14-0 and 34-14 and could not overcome the deficits in dropping a 34-27 football decision to eighth-rated Cumberlands on Saturday.

    Greg Fountain continued his stellar season with 148 rushing yards and two touchdowns while freshman Ross Deaton passed for 233 yards and two fourth-quarter scores.

    Tyler Guess and Jacob Wallace paced the CU defense with 18 and 12 tackles, respectively, while Dwight Houston and Trapper Williams had nine hits apiece.

  • Football play-off scenario update

    While Campbellsville High School knows its first-round play-off opponent (Fairview at home on Nov. 14), it could be around midnight tomorrow before Taylor County knows what's happening with the Cardinals' post-season plans.

    Heading into the final regular-season games, TCHS (13) trails Wayne County (16) and leads Somerset (12) in the three-way Class 3A, Region 5 tie-breaker.

    The Cardinals own wins over Hart County (4), Garrard County (4), Campbellsville (3) and Casey County (2).

  • No. 1 team comes to town

    Pre-season No. 1-rated Union (Tenn.) University used first-half streaks of 5-0, 9-0, 8-0 and 9-2 to build a 10-point half-time cushion and rolled to a 79-52 triumph over Campbellsville University's Lady Tigers in the Powell Athletic Center on Tuesday night.

    Two Alexia Williams three-pointers kept CU close in the first half while treys by Juliana Brown and Kristi Ensminger and two buckets by Courtney Dandis in the second half preceded the Lady Dogs' 12-1 run to finish the game.

    The Lady Tigers host Robert Morris tomorrow at 7 p.m.

  • Tiger men's basketball...

    Coming off of a 26-10 season and the program’s first-ever NAIA Tournament semi-final appearance, Campbellsville University men's basketball coach Keith Adkins has a lot of reasons to be optimistic.

    Despite losing some key players, Adkins’ optimism hinges on the return of All-American Zach Allender, who missed last season with a knee injury, the return of six players from last year's team and a very talented group of recruits who have bolstered Campbellsville's depth in every position.

  • Lady Tiger basketball seeks...

    Ginger Colvin, in her second season as Campbellsville University head coach, hopes to return the Lady Tigers to the NAIA National Tournament in 2009.

    After completing her first season as head coach, Colvin believes her team was close to a return to the NAIA National Tournament last season.

    "We finished 19-13, had five overtime losses and at times had five true freshmen on the floor," recalled the coach about the 2007-2008 season.

  • Arkansas too much for CU hoop...

    The Campbellsville Tigers went toe-to-toe with one of the elite NCAA Division I basketball programs, the Arkansas Razorbacks, on Monday evening in Fayetteville, Ark.

    Playing in front of a crowd at the famous Bud Walton Arena, Campbellsville led 7-3 with 17:54 to play in the first half before the home-standing Razorbacks went on a 30-7 run that would boost them to a 20-point lead midway through the first half en route to a 103-58 win.

  • Cards rooting for Eagles on...

    It’s probably going to be tough, but Taylor County High School fans, parents and players will be borrowing Purple and Gold shakers for at least the next two Friday nights.

    The Cardinals need Campbellsville to defeat McCreary Central and Glasgow to have any shot at the No. 1 seed in the play-offs, which begin on Nov. 14.

  • Late Campbellsville U. rally...

    Campbellsville University mounted a furious comeback in the second half at Georgetown on Saturday before falling just short 51-45 in a matchup of Mid-South Conference East Division football rivals.

    CU scored on the opening possession of the game on a 12-play, 66-yard drive, capped off by Greg Fountain's two-yard touchdown run. David Hon tacked on the PAT kick, and Campbellsville led 7-0 with 9:41 to play in the first period.
