  • Phillies capture Pee Wee League...

     

    The Phillies defeated the Indians two games out of three (13-12, 17-18, 13-12 in nine innings) to capture the overall Pee Wee League baseball championship at Miller Park this summer.

    The team consists of Carson Floyd,  Ryan Underwood, Luke Cole, Katie Floyd, Morgan Melton, Blase Wheatley, Connor Wise, Tristen Faulkner, Blake Settle and Cameron Cox with the coaches being Barry Wheatley, Dean Faulkner, Greg Floyd, Angie Wise and Brad Wise.

  • Astros top White Sox for Major...

     

    The Astros won both playoff games (12-2, 10-5) to defeat the White Sox for the Major League Baseball championship last Monday and Tuesday at Miller Park.

    The team consists of: Brennan Wheatley, D.J. Goodin, Colton Hughes, Wesley Burton, Mason Wright, Jacob Thompson, Blake Richard, Zach Bottoms, Kris Sexton, Caden Wheatley and Lane Bottoms. The head coach is Adam Bottoms and the assistants are Todd Richard and Wayne Goodin.

  • Bertram's Omaha stay longer...

    Just the word Omaha makes Barry Bertram feel 18 years old again.
    It was the summer of 1953 after recent Campbellsville High School graduates Bertram, Murrell Young, Allen Young and 1952 CHS grad Merlin Graham went on a summer graduation trip across the midlands down to Texas up to Iowa and through Omaha on their way to St. Louis and back home.
    Graham, the younger brother of Charles E. “Chick” Graham, had the toughest course to get out of town since he was helping run the family grocery since “Chick” was in the military.

  • Minor League crown worn by Royals

     

    The Royals swept the Yankees 16-6 and 15-9 to claim the Minor League regular-season championship on Friday.

    The team consists of: Micah Lauer, Charlie Pettigrew, Matthew Oliver, Weston Young, Jeffrey Nolley, Seth Cowherd, Tyler Anderson and Myles Murrell. Back: Richard Murrell, Brad Lauer, Elijah Epperson, Marcus Anderson, head coach Troy Young, Murphy Lamb and Brian Oliver.

  • Cox moves up ladder to AA

    Zack Cox moved up to Class AA Springfield (Mo.) on May 25 after batting .335 at Class A Palm Beach in Jupiter, Fla.
    After going 2-3 with a walk in his first AA game vs. Corpus Christi, Cox was hitting .250 in his first 11 games through Monday.

  • Three CHS players make all-star...

    Three Campbellsville High School players have been chosen for the Kentucky East-West All-Star Series over the next 10 days.
    Lady Eagle softballers, seniors-to-be catcher Destiny Wilson and shortstop Tiffany Slone, will play for the West Juniors in the East-West Series on Saturday and Sunday in Lexington.
    The West Juniors will play the West Seniors at 2:00 and the East Seniors at 5 on Saturday in a pair of seven-inning games at the University of Kentucky. On Sunday at Dunbar High School, the West Juniors will battle the East Juniors in a nine-inning game at noon.

  • Central Hardin halts Eagles...

     

    Campbellsville managed only two Brett Kearney hits and scored its only run on a bases-loaded walk and fell to host Central Hardin 8-1 in the Fifth Region Tournament baseball finals on Wednesday in Cecilia.

    The Bruins scored the game's first run in the third inning and put the contest away with a four-run fourth.

  • Lady Cards eliminated by Green...

    Taylor County High School’s tough first-round draw turned into elimination as the Lady Cardinals lost to Green County 11-1 in five innings in the Fifth Region Tournament on Monday afternoon at LaRue County.
    The Lady Cardinals, who finish the season at 14-16, scored their only run on Hannah Milby’s fifth-inning hit.
    Green County (29-7) fell to Central Hardin in Tuesday’s semifinals while LaRue County went 10 innings to beat North Hardin 7-6 in the other final four match-up. Central Hardin shut out LaRue County 11-0 for the tourney title.
