  • Cardinals head to Florida with 8...

    Coach Jeff Gumm’s Taylor County Cardinals made it eight victories in 10 starts this season with a 4-3 victory at John Hardin on Wednesday night.
    The Cardinals struck first with a three-run second inning. However, the Bulldogs knotted the score with a three-spot of their own in the bottom of the fifth frame.
    Taylor County pushed across a run in the top of the seventh and freshman reliever Collin Watson finished his 2 2/3-inning sting to earn the mound win in support of junior southpaw starter Dalton Brown.

    Campbellsville University’s diamond squads continue their excellent spring seasons and remain in first place in the Mid-South Conference races.

    No. 18 baseball team
    For the second-straight week, Campbellsville University baseball completed a Mid-South Conference sweep. The 19-4 Tigers took three at Cumberlands also swept Asbury in a non-conference twinbill on Tuesday.

  • Cards conquer Cumberland,...

    Taylor County High School made it four baseball wins in a row by besting Cumberland County 9-3 on Saturday and Metcalfe County 14-1 on Tuesday.
    The Cardinals raced out to a 3-0 lead on Saturday and used the pitching of Jordan Nicholas to conquer Cumberland County.
    Nicholas allowed only one earned run while going the distance and walking none and striking out eight.
    Tyler Franklin had a single and a double in the eight-hit TCHS attack while Nicholas doubled and Tyler Frogge and Daniel Carney tripled.

  • Lady Eagles run-rule Casey

    Campbellsville High School used huge third-, fourth- and fifth-inning scoring frames to post a 12-1 softball triumph at Casey County on Monday night.
    Coach Weston Jones’ squad only led 1-0 going to the top of the third, but tallied three runs in that inning and three more in the fourth before a five-run fifth.
    Paige Dabney hit a grand-slam in the last inning while Brenna Wethington followed with a solo shot.
