  • Dicken qualifies for All ‘A’...

    Campbellsville High School girls’ golfer Abbie Dicken has advanced to the All “A” State Tournament.
    Dicken, a sophomore, competed in the All “A” Fifth Region tournament at Green County Country Club on Monday, and was one of the top two individual finishers not from the qualifying squad — Green County (152).
    Dicken is the only girls’ golf player at CHS this year, so she competes as an individual under coach David Payne.
    Dicken finished her nine holes with a 48.

  • Doss first at Tates Creek G.C.

    Calen McKinney, Campbellsville Schools

    Campbellsville High School boys’ golf team finished in ninth place at the 20-team Commodore Classic at Tates Creek Golf Course in Lexington on Saturday.
    Eagle junior Alex Doss won a playoff on the second hole to finish the tournament in first place with a 73.
    Overall, the CHS team, coached by Jim Ward, finished with a 336.
    Other scores for the Eagles were: Layton Hord (82), Myles Murrell (89) and Noah Wagers (92).
    Connor Wilson did not play for CHS because of a muscular shoulder strain.

    Campbellsville University, winner of two straight Mid-South Conference West Division Championships, will kick start its 2016 campaign on the road when the Tigers travel to Williamsburg for a match-up with University of the Cumberlands on Thursday at 7 p.m.

    Bowling leagues starting Aug. 29 at Phillips Lanes
    Winter bowling leagues at Phillips Lanes will begin at different times, beginning on Aug. 29, with meetings scheduled the week before league play begins.
    • The Jam League, five-man teams, will start on Monday, Aug. 29 at 6:45.
    • The Fellowship (four-man teams) and Subway Express (4-woman teams) Leagues start Tuesday, Sept. 6 and 7 and 6:20, respectively.

  • Eagles repeat as ‘A’ golf champs


    Campbellsville High School’s boys’ golf squad repeated as Fifth Region All “A” Classic champions on Monday at Campbellsville Country Club.

    The Jim Ward-coached Eagles were led by individual champion Layton Hord’s even-par 72 and a 75 by Alex Doss.

    Also, playing for CHS (308) were Connor Wilson (80), Myles Murrell (81) and Noah Wagers (86).

    The All “A” Classic State Tournament is scheduled for Sept 9-10 at Eagle’s Nest Country Club in Somerset.
