  • Hazard halts CHS season 55-21

    Hazard struck early with three first-quarter touchdowns and eliminated Campbellsville 55-21 in the second round of the Class A play-offs on Friday night.
    “We needed some breaks and they didn’t give us any,” Eagles’ head coach Jay Cobb admitted. “We were faced with too many mismatches tonight.”
    The Bulldogs (9-2) need only a two-yard run and an Eagle off-sides penalty before freshman Brandon Jones broke loose for a 59-yard score.

  • Eagles persevere over Pineville in first round of play-offs

    The saying “survive and advance” fit Campbellsville High School’s football Eagles to a tee on Friday night as coach Jay Cobb’s squad posted a 28-12 victory over Pineville at Campbellsville University’s Finley Stadium.
    Leading only 7-0 at the half on Zach Durham’s touchdown pass to Dra Thornton and Bradley Bates’ extra-point boot, Campbellsville (7-4) tallied a pair of defensive scores in a 15-second stretch to add the exclamation point to their post-season triumph.

  • CHS play-off game vs. Pineville will be played at CU

    Campbellsville High School’s home play-off game (Friday at 7:30) vs. Pineville will be played at Campbellsville’s Finley Stadium on HIG Field.
    Tickets prices will be $6 and there will be no advanced sales.
    Only Coaches and Administrator Card  passes will be accepted and the holder only. Season passes, employee passes or student ID cards will not be accepted.

  • CHS prevails as Eagles clash on gridiron

    Fort Knox out-scored Campbellsville on touchdowns 4-3, but the home-standing Eagles of coach Jay Cobb had three touchdowns, two extra points, a conversion run and a field goal to edge the visitors 25-24 in Friday night’s regular-season finale.
    It only took Fort Knox, coached by CHS 1991 graduate Shawn Thompson, two plays to remove the zero from the board when Dominic Dingle went 63 yards on a reverse.

  • Cards survive Hart shoot-out 41-39

    Daulton Turpin scored four touchdowns and picked off a pass to lead Taylor County to a 41-39 victory on Friday night at Hart County.
    The Cardinals who stopped a five-game losing streak, used a balanced rushing attack to accumulate 316 yards and dominate the time of possession.

  • CHS Eagles coast past Berea 47-8

    Campbellsville’s Eagles picked up in Berea on Friday night right where they left off at Lynn Camp the week before.
    The Eagles raced out to a 34-point advantage in the first quarter and never looked back as they spoiled the Pirates’ Senior Night festivities with a 47-8 win.

  • Barren's second half dooms Cards

    Barren County broke away from a 6-6 half-time deadlock to upend the home-standing Taylor County Cardinals 40-12 on Friday night at Thomas Porter Stadium.
    Taylor County (3-6) struck first when freshman Hunter Christie connected with Daulton Turpin on a 33-yard touchdown pass over the middle on the first play of the second quarter.
    The Trojans (4-5) knotted the score with 1:58 left in the first half and then tacked on three third-quarter touchdowns and two fourth-frame tallies.

  • Eagles shellack Lynn Camp 53-0

    Campbellsville High School rode stellar performances from its seniors on Friday as the Eagles went on the road to get their first district win of the 2011 season, knocking off the Lynn Camp Wildcats 53-0.
    CHS (4-4) scored early and often during the Wildcats’  homecoming game as senior signalcaller Josh Hicks got the party started with a 19-yard strike to fellow senior Dra Thornton for the Eagles’ first score.
    Hicks was at it again in less than five minutes as he found senior Tyler Carson from nine yards out, pushing the CHS lead to 12-0.

  • Mercer pulls away from Taylor 43-7

    Mercer County scored the game’s final 36 points to upend home-standing Taylor County 43-7 on Friday night at Thomas Porter Stadium.
    The Titans (4-4) needed only 57 seconds to score the game’s first touchdown after a short delay when the lights would not turn on at Clay Marcum Field.
    After Mercer County did not connect on a 27-yard field goal, Taylor County went 80 yards on 14 plays to knot the score at 7-7 on Dylan Bright’s 11-yard score and Raphael Cunha’s extra-point boot.
