  • Cotton disagrees with TC brass on program's future

    The silence has been deafening. Although it was understood that Taylor County High School head football coach Curtis Cotton had met with the administration on Monday, Jan. 3 and had turned in his resignation on Tuesday, Jan. 4, it was not made public until the personnel report was released on Wednesday, Jan. 12.

  • Marion sweeps CHS in boys' district basketball

    Campbellsville High School’s boys fought back from a game-long deficit to grab the lead only to see Marion County’s DeShawn Douglas drain a three with less than eight seconds left for a 41-39 Knight win in Paul J. Coop Gymnasium on Friday night.
    The Eagles had out-scored the visitors 10-2 in the final quarter before Douglas’ trey proved to be the game winner.
    Jordan Percell paced Campbellsville with 14 points and 12 rebounds while Douglas led Marion County with 13 and Carlos Litsey added 11.

  • Lady Cards hold off Bardstown for 57-49 triumph

    Mercedes Cox (18 points), Hope Wigginton (16) and Elizabeth Thomas (10) combined for 44 points as the Taylor County Lady Cardinals held off visiting Bardstown 57-49 on Friday night.
    The Lady Cardinals (10-4) led by double digits at the half and still held an 11-point cushion (49-38) n the fourth quarter until a free throw and two Alyssa  Thompson three-pointers made it 49-45 with 3:30 to play.
    However, the Lady Cards nailed seven of 10 free throws down the stretch, six of eight by Cox, to post the victory.

  • Cards' strong second-half effort tops North 64-52

    Taylor County out-scored North Hardin 55-31 over the last three quarters and posted a 64-52 victory at home over the defending Fifth Region champions on Friday.
    The Trojans led by double digits in the first half before Tevin Webster’s 10-point, second-quarter effort brought the Cardinals to within four (36-32) at the intermission.
    Taylor County took its second lead of the game at 42-41 on Lucas Bradshaw’s basket with 2:54 left in the third frame and tallied the first 16 points of the final period.

  • CHS makes it three straight in Citizens Bank/CU Classic

    What a difference a couple of weeks have made for the Campbellsville High boys’ basketball program.
    After a Friday, Dec. 17 loss at Marion County, Eagles’ head coach Tim Davis called a 7 a.m. Saturday practice.
    CHS played better, not great, to go 2-1 in the T.J. Samson Hospital Holiday Classic at Metcalfe County on Dec. 20-22.

  • CHS slips on the road at Marion

    Marion County held visiting Campbellsville to 38.8 percent field-goal shooting and pinned a 57-47 loss on the Eagles on Friday night.
    Carlos Litsey scored 13 points with 14 boards to lead Marion County while John Southall led the Knights in scoring with 15 and Deshawn Douglas added 13.
    Lake Wiseman paced Campbellsville (3-2 overall and 1-1 vs. 20th District foes) with 15 points while Jordan Percell added 12 and Matthew Davis 10.
    The Eagles hit six of their seven free throws while the Knights were 12-16.

  • Cards prevail 59-54 at Green

    Taylor County seemed to be cruising along nicely after an 11-0 run put the Cardinals up 39-25 with 5:26 to play.
    But, the Dragons finished the fourth quarter with an 18-4 spurt to tie the game before TCHS prevailed 59-54 in double overtime on Friday night in Greensburg.

  • Lady Cards down Green 62-48

    Taylor County scored 14 straight second-quarter points and never looked back in posting a 62-48 road victory over Green County on Friday night.
    The Lady Cardinals (7-1) led 11-3 early before the Lady Dragons tallied 10 straight points to lead 12-11 early in the second frame.

  • Lady Cards roll to fifth straight win

    Taylor County’s Lady Cardinals reeled off their fifth win in the first eight days of the high school hoop season by cruising past Campbellsville 73-24 on Tuesday night in Paul J. Coop Gymnasium.
    The Lady Cardinals (5-0), who won three games in Brandenburg over the weekend, trailed only 2-0 on Brittany Vaught’s basket 15 seconds into the contest.
    However, Hope Wigginton had nine of her game-high 21 points and Alanna Claywell connected on four of her 12 points off the bench and the rout was on.

  • Eagles square record with 51-44 victory over Cards

    Campbellsville tallied eight of the game’s final nine points to edge visiting Taylor County 51-44 on Tuesday night.
    The Eagles (1-1) took a seven-point lead early in the final frame after a Derek Taylor steal to Jaqil Taylor for a lay-up by Jordan Percell.
    However, the Cardinals (1-2) knotted the score on a hoop by Tevin Webster, a free throw and lay-up by Trae Wells and a lane jumper from Chase Seaborne.
    CHS used a Percell putback and a Matthew Davis steal and lay-up to take the lead for good.
