Campbellsville Middle School won its eighth Central Kentucky Middle School Athletic Conference Bowl championship in the 24-year history of the league with a 14-8 overtime win over Hart County at Dave Fryrear Field.
The Eagles, wearing the uniforms of the 2005 team (the last CMS squad to claim the title), trailed 8-0 when the Raiders scored with 2:33 left in regulation on a five-yard run and a conversion tally.
Campbellsville Middle School tallied two of three touchdowns in a two-minute stretch to upend visiting Taylor County 20-14 in the Central Kentucky Middle School Athletic Conference play-offs on Tuesday.
The Eagles (9-3) scored the only first-half touchdown when Shay Stone connected with Austin Hash from 33 yards out.
The Cardinals (5-5) took the lead with 3:24 left in the third quarter on Quentin Goodin’s 28-yard pass to Jarred Rogers and Goodin’s two-point conversion run.
Campbellsville scored two first-quarter touchdowns and made them hold up in defeating home-standing Taylor County 14-8 in middle school football action on Thursday.
The Eagles took advantage of a Cardinal fumble after a hit by Tavon Hunter and Mike Tamez picked up the loose pigskin and sprinted 37 yards to the end zone for a 6-0 CMS cushion.
