May 13, 1999

Greg and Tiffany Floyd, Campbellsville, announce the birth of a son, Gregory Tate, at 5:53 p.m. Tuesday, April 27 at Taylor Regional Hospital, Campbellsville.

Beryl "Bea" Smith, 85, formerly of Red Fern Road, Campbellsville, died Friday, May 7, 1999, in Campbellsville.

The Taylor County High Future Farmers of America Chapter had its annual banquet May 4 in the high school cafeteria.

Dylan Quinn celebrated his fourth birthday Saturday, April 24 at his home with family and friends.

About 200 area middle school students learned about bees, beef cattle and being a farmer last Friday at an Ag Day celebration at The Homeplace on Green River. Students from Campbellsville and Green County middle schools, along with a few home-schooled students, attended the events, which included stations pertaining to beef and dairy cattle, grain, soil conservation, how to make lip balm and agri-jeopardy. Billy Fudge, president of The Homeplace, says he hopes the event will become an annual one that will grow each year.

Peggy Anderson and her sisters have always been close - from all three purchasing their first home together to battling cancer.

The daughter of S.F. and Ruth Anderson of Green County, Anderson moved back into her parents' home in May 1978, after having attended Campbellsville College for 2 1/2 years, getting married and later divorcing.

She says the house was tight on space with three young women living at home, so the sisters decided to buy a house together in Campbellsville.

He made rivers and lakes and oceans to flow.

He sent sunshine and rain, even stormy winds that blow.

This year’s Christmas Home Tour, sponsored annually by Campbellsville Woman’s Club, featured nine Taylor County homes.

The money raised from this annual event goes to support civic projects of the Campbellsville Woman’s Club, including two scholarships to local high school seniors each year.

Homes included a log cabin owned by Buck and Wanda Lewis, where refreshments were served.

Taylor County High School is celebrating its homecoming this week. A parade is set for 5 p.m. today with the Cards taking on Hart County, beginning at 7:30 p.m. During halftime, the TCHS homecoming king and queen will be crowned. Oct. 15, 1998

David Clark Dennis has received a Presidential Scholarship at Cumberland College in Williamsburg.

The Taylor County High School Marching Cardinals competed at the Louisville Male Invitational Band Contest on Saturday and received its fourth distinguished rating of the season.

Asa Swan, 19, a fifth-year senior at Huntington College, has been nominated by the school to be a Rhodes Scholar.

John Holmes has followed up his individual state golf championship by earning Kentucky's Mr. Golf title for 1998.

As I paddled my rickety rowboat - I was on a rushing river somewhere - a couple of humungous alligators came up underneath, flipped me over and started biting my feet.

I've always hated that about alligators.

It was 2:14 a.m. and thankfully only a dream. I tried going back to sleep, but the alligators were waiting to finish me off so I turned on the TV and listened to four yippy dogs disguised as political commentators discuss the current crisis of the day.
