  • Faith Baptist Church to host a...

    Faith Baptist Church will host a harvest homecoming on Sunday.

    Worship will begin at 11 a.m. with Bro. Jerry Adams preaching. Lunch and fellowship will follow.

    A singing after lunch will feature For God So Loved, The Adams Family, The Cundiff Family and Lewis Rainwater.

    Other members and friends of Faith Baptist will be singing and playing instruments.

  • Telling Jesus to be quiet

    A few weeks ago, I was visiting a woman who sells biblical toys, action figures of Bible characters like David and Goliath, Moses, Jonah.

    She handed me the Jesus doll, which was about twice the size of a G.I. Joe, and showed me how the fingers and joints move. Then she pressed a button on Jesus' back and Jesus started talking.

  • Community Thanksgiving service is...

    The Taylor County Food Pantry, operated by the Taylor County Ministerial Association, has served 6,510 people this year, according to Dr. Ted Beam, ministerial association treasurer.

    "Our annual Thanksgiving service offering will again assist in providing help in the last month of this year and into the next," Beam said.

    The annual community-wide Thanksgiving service will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21 at Campbellsville First Church of God, located at 100 Hillcrest Drive.

    Everyone in the community is invited, according to host Pastor Mark West.

  • Friendship Baptist Church...

    Friendship Baptist Church celebrated its 200th birthday on Sunday, Oct. 7. About 300 people attended the services.

    In 1815, the first mission offering was taken at Friendship by Luther Rice at an associational meeting. This is believed to be the first foreign mission offering taken in the state of Kentucky. Friendship continues to be strong in its mission support.

    Tori Shively of Campbellsville has enrolled this year at Centre College, joining a record number of new students.

    Ashley Brooke Lawson celebrated her fourth birthday with a party at home Sept. 27.

    Taylor County Middle School PTSO will have a hot dog supper, book fair and talent show on Friday, Nov. 21 beginning at 6 p.m.

    With the piercing sound of a smoke alarm filling the room, Alli Wilson rolls out of bed and crawls to the door. Using the back of her hand, she feels the door for heat. It's warm. That means fire is likely on the other side of that door. Opening it could be dangerous.

    Thank goodness, though, the fire isn't real. The exercise is just a part of Campbellsville Fire Department's fire prevention program.
