Public library to operate on $1....

Taylor County’s public library will operate with more than $1.3 million next fiscal year, which includes an estimated $500,000 leftover from this fiscal year.

Board members discussed the library’s 2013-2014 fiscal year budget during their regular meeting on Monday. After their approval, the budget heads to the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives and Taylor County Fiscal Court members.

The KDLA must scrutinize the budget before awarding any money to the library. In the budget, it is estimated the library will receive $10,000 from KDLA.

Merica Durbin of Campbellsville received a nursing academic award from Western Kentucky University's College of Health and Human Services when she was recognized in a ceremony on April 19.

Knifley named Agribusiness...

 

He says he retired from farming when he turned 65.

But Leroy Knifley, now 80, won't stay off his tractor long enough for anyone to believe him.

Leroy was named Campbellsville/Taylor County Chamber of Commerce's Agribusiness Person of the Year on May 9.

The annual tradition started in 1994, and each year, Taylor County Agriculture Advancement Council members select the recipient.

Fruits and vegetables are important to our diet because they provide necessary nutrients and are high in dietary fiber and low in calories, fat and cholesterol.

The 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend that you make half your plate fruits and vegetables.

In Memory: 25 Years Later

It's been 25 years, but they haven't lost hope that one day his killer will be put in handcuffs.

And it's that hope that keeps them coming back to Campbellsville each year to remember him.

Those passing by Ransdell Chapel on the Campbellsville University campus last Wednesday might have seen a swarm of state and local law enforcement vehicles. But they weren't there to investigate a crime.

The officers were there to remember one of their own, an officer who was killed in the line of duty more than two decades ago.

A Day of Prayer

 

They prayed for the nation, their country and their hometown.

Taylor County residents gathered last Thursday at Taylor County Courthouse Square to pray together on the National Day of Prayer, a day on which people all over the world gather to pray together.

Residents in Campbellsville will join thousands of individuals across the country to celebrate National Preservation Month this May. As part of the month’s celebration, Campbellsville Renaissance/Historic Preservation Commission has provided information about four historic buildings in Campbellsville.

Dowling, Arnold to wed

 

Natalie Dowling and Blake Arnold of Lexington announce their engagement.

Dowling is the daughter of Ricky and Valerie Dowling of Campbellsville.

She is a graduate of Taylor County High School and University of Kentucky. She is employed by the Fayette County school system.

Arnold is the son of Eddie and Pam Arnold of Grayson.

He is a graduate of East Carter High School and Kentucky Community & Technical College System. He is a respiratory therapist at University of Kentucky Hospital.

CU claims NCCAA Mideast Region...

The Campbellsville Tigers won all three games to claim the NCCAA Mideast Regional Tournament on Saturday in Nashville with a 6-5 victory over host Trevecca Nazarene University.
 “I feel fantastic,” head coach Beauford Sanders said. “This is wonderful and a great accomplishment.
“Of course we were disappointed when we didn’t qualify for the NAIA opening round, but to have this opportunity and to see us get together and play better baseball and win the thing is great.
