Smith named certified tumor...

 

Taylor Regional Hospital employee Jo Ann Smith of Columbia is now a certified tumor registrar.

Taylor Regional Hospital recently received notification that Smith passed the National Cancer Registrar's Association Council on Certification examination on March 19.

Many registrars work in a non-certified capacity for many years without passing the examination. Beginning Jan. 1, 2015, any staff member who performs case abstraction must be certified.

Veterans Memorial Park to get...

Children who play at Veterans Memorial Park playground will soon get a treat.

A new piece of playground equipment that can accommodate about 50 children will soon be installed there. And the equipment will be made entirely from recycled plastics.

Magistrates agreed to purchase the equipment on Tuesday night at their regular Taylor County Fiscal Court meeting.

Martin, Noble to wed

 

Jessica Martin and Bobby Noble Jr. of Greensburg announce their engagement.

Martin is the daughter of Terry and Linda Martin of Greensburg.

She is a 2009 graduate of Green County High School and is a student at Elizabethtown Community & Technical College. She is employed at Modern Care in Campbellsville.

Noble is the son of Bobby Noble Sr. of Greensburg and Kathy Brewer of Louisville.

He is also a 2009 graduate of Green County High School and is employed at Altec in Elizabethtown.

Changes made to shelter voucher...

Some minor changes to the animal shelter’s adoption voucher system are in the works. Soon, parvo shots will once again be administered at the Taylor County Animal Shelter and the cost to adopt a cat could be lowered.

At the shelter, adoptions cost $100. That fee includes worming, parvo and rabies shots, a microchip and a certificate for either a spay or neuter operation.

Knifley named Agribusiness...

 

He says he retired from farming when he turned 65.

But Leroy Knifley, now 80, won't stay off his tractor long enough for anyone to believe him.

Leroy was named Campbellsville/Taylor County Chamber of Commerce's Agribusiness Person of the Year on May 9.

The annual tradition started in 1994, and each year, Taylor County Agriculture Advancement Council members select the recipient.

In Memory: 25 Years Later

It's been 25 years, but they haven't lost hope that one day his killer will be put in handcuffs.

And it's that hope that keeps them coming back to Campbellsville each year to remember him.

Those passing by Ransdell Chapel on the Campbellsville University campus last Wednesday might have seen a swarm of state and local law enforcement vehicles. But they weren't there to investigate a crime.

The officers were there to remember one of their own, an officer who was killed in the line of duty more than two decades ago.

When Cox Shavings opened in 1998, general manager Jim Noe was prepared to serve the needs of horse farms, dairies and chicken farms scattered throughout Kentucky and surrounding states.

He never expected the shavings produced in Campbellsville would one day line the dens of exotic animals such as lions, tigers and zebras. “I never dreamed that we’d be going into that,” Noe said.

But that changed when Noe got a phone call from one of his regular dealers, Metzger’s Country Store in Simpsonville.

May 8, 2003

One of the world's top auctioneers died at his home in Campbellsville on Saturday. Wayne Kessler, 83, of Old Lebanon Road in Campbellsville, died at 4:53 p.m.

Mylea White celebrated her eighth birthday on April 18 at her home with family and friends.

Jessica Huber and Nathan Williams were honored with a wedding shower at the home of Frieda Sandidge.

TRH hosts Blessing of the Hands

 

Holding out her hands, he places drops of oil on each and asks God to bless them.

“The lives that they touch, may they be blessed,” he said, as they prayed together.

Beside him, another clergy member asks for God’s blessings upon a nurse’s hands.

John Raymond and Mary Lee Keltner of Columbia will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Sunday.

Norma Dee James and Terry Lee Garmon will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, May 24.

Merica Durbin of Campbellsville received a nursing academic award from Western Kentucky University's College of Health and Human Services when she was recognized in a ceremony on April 19.
