Woman enters guilty plea in...

 

The Campbellsville woman accused of participating in a prostitution ring has pleaded guilty to amended charges and could be sentenced to probation for her crimes.

Kimberly Campbell, 21, of 1669 Gaddis Ridge Road, was indicted by a Taylor County grand jury last year, along with Adulfo De Aquino-Cancino, 28.

Campbell was charged with two counts of promoting the sale of a minor who was younger than 18.

Man files suit against Taylor...

A Greensburg man has filed suit, claiming he was unlawfully fired from his job at Taylor County’s jail.

Elizabethtown attorney Larry Ashlock filed a complaint on Jerry Fields’ behalf in Taylor Circuit Court on April 12.

Named as defendants are Rick Benningfield and Eddie “Hack” Marcum, Taylor County’s former and present jailer, respectively; magistrates Dr. James Jones, John Gaines, Tommy Corbin, Matt Pendleton, Ed Gorin and Richard Phillips; and Eddie Rogers, Taylor County’s judge/executive.

Local high schools announce...

 

Summer break is just days away for local high school students.

Seniors at Campbellsville and Taylor County high schools will put on graduation caps and gowns this week and next, respectively. In all, more than 300 students are expected to graduate.

CCC has new youth minister

Campbellsville Christian Church has a new youth minister.

Logan Thompson of North Carolina will begin his duties on May 12.

Thompson is a graduate of Johnson University in Knoxville, Tenn. He previously ministered at Mineral Ridge Church of Christ in Mineral Ridge, Ohio.

He is married to Amanda Thompson and they have two children, Jenna and Silas.

Missing person found

Campbellsville Police have found a Campbellsville man reported missing early Friday, May 17, morning.

According to a police report, police were searching for George Maynard, a 68-year-old white male who is 5'11 and weighs 200 pounds.

Maynard was reported as last seen at his home on Pitman Avenue at about 1 a.m. He was found at about 7:30 a.m.

County's road damage...

The lawsuit claiming a Columbia company damaged a road while working in Taylor County has been dismissed.

The plaintiffs, Taylor County’s magistrates, can file the claim again, however, should they choose to.

Taylor County Attorney John Bertram filed the suit on behalf of Taylor County Fiscal Court on Nov. 8, 2011, in Taylor Circuit Court. Windmill Mobile Home Center of Columbia is listed as the defendant.

Windmill Mobile Home does business in multiple counties, including Taylor, the complaint states.

Tebbs Bend bridge to be moved

 

The Tebbs Bend bridge will be moved and preserved, likely sometime next year.

Funding for a new bridge isn't firm yet, however, and it isn't known who will move the bridge.

At last Tuesday's regular Taylor County Fiscal Court meeting, Taylor County Judge/Executive Eddie Rogers announced the Kentucky Heritage Land Conservation has given the county permission to move the bridge to the nearby Tebbs Bend-Green River Nature Area.

Cain joins Shannon’s Salon

 

Sarah Cain is the newest team member at Shannon’s Salon.

Cain specializes in dimensional color techniques, creative cuts, special occasions and makeup application.

The salon is open on Tuesdays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Cain is the daughter of Kim Cain and the late Robert Cain.
 

Durham murder trial set for...

Jesse Durham is now scheduled to face jurors in August and October.

Durham, the Campbellsville man accused of killing his great-grandmother and assaulting a jail deputy while incarcerated, appeared in court on Tuesday for another hearing in his cases.

Dressed in sweats and shackled with handcuffs and leg chains, Durham, 21, of 102 Eads St., appeared before Taylor Circuit Court Judge Allan Bertram for a hearing that lasted six minutes.
