Some claims dropped in hospital suit

Some of the claims made by a Campbellsville woman who said she was injured while being treated at Taylor Regional Hospital have been dismissed.

Louisville attorneys Lea Player, Douglas Morris and William McMurry filed a complaint in Taylor Circuit Court on Oct. 21, 2011, on behalf of Javonna Smith, who claims she received a severe radiation injury while at TRH.

Those listed as defendants are:

• Taylor County Hospital District Health Facilities Corp. dba Taylor Regional Hospital of Campbellsville

St. Baldrick's honors 'Knights of the Bald Table'

 

Numbers mean different things to different people, and the mere thought of "seven" can conjure anything from The Itch, 007, Snow White's dwarfs and maybe the Magnificent Seven.

Campbellsville St. Baldrick's will be entering its seventh year in 2014, and as time has gone by, there is one staple that continues to play out - this community is a giving one. So, the magnificence is really that children's cancer research is the big beneficiary.

A year gone by

 

It's hard to believe it's been a year. And what a year it's been.

I will admit it; I'm one of those who thought it wouldn't happen. We would never have enough money. People wouldn't want higher taxes to pay for it. But here we are, and it's all paid for.

The new Taylor County Public Library opened its doors last March, after years and years of planning, saving and hoping.

And on Tuesday, March 18, library staff members will host a party to celebrate the first birthday in their new building.

Resident injured in Marion County crash

A Campbellsville woman was injured in a Marion County crash on Sunday, March 2.

Amy Ransdell, 31, was traveling eastbound on KY 412 at 7:05 a.m. in a 1993 Ford Ranger.

A Kentucky State Police news release states that Ransdell lost control of her vehicle because of slick road conditions, traveled off the roadway and overturned in a ditch.

Ransdell, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported to Spring View Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. She was treated and released.

KSP Trooper John Boyd is investigating.

Jail not the answer for truant students

Kentucky is on the brink of sweeping reforms in how it treats youths who wind up in the court system - especially those who commit minor crimes or "status offenses," actions that would not be an offense at all for adults, such as running away or missing school.

Proposed 44-ton tractor-trailers could endanger Kentuckians

The Kentucky House Transportation Committee will vote on a bill soon that would allow heavier tractor-trailer trucks hauling poultry and agricultural products to travel on all state and local roads, increasing the maximum weight from 80,000 pounds to 88,000 pounds.

Police administrators, first responder and safety groups have come out in opposition to the bill, SB 44, which passed the Kentucky Senate earlier this month.
