  • Library thanks "How-To Festival" supporters

The Taylor County Public Library would like to thank all of those that helped in any way during our first ever "How to Festival."

  • TCHS Project Graduation thanks supporters

Taylor County High School Project Graduation was May 23. The event was a huge success with a large majority of the senior class present. Our main goal was a night of safe fun for the seniors to enjoy with their fellow classmates after graduation. Thanks to so many sponsors in Campbellsville and surrounding areas, we had a tremendous selection of food, many enjoyable games, a free photo booth for the kids and prizes too numerous to mention. We also want to thank all the volunteers who generously gave their time to assist in any way at project graduation.

  • Reader thanks Fire & Rescue

I would like to thank Taylor County Fire & Rescue.

When I was desperate and helpless on May 22, as I was awakened by the powerful microburst storm that was taking away part of my house. The roof and telephone were gone with it. I couldn't call anywhere for help, when they came to my door and rescued me. Thank you.

  • Reader enjoyed historic sports article

I read Bobby Brockman's article on the COKES team of 50 years ago. That was a good year as were some of the earlier teams. Before TV in the 40s and 50s, they were the "only game in town" literally. This carried over till the days Willard Smith spoke about. Lots of good players came through the Cokes in those years.

We have lost something with the passing of those teams. High school and college ball is a good replacement, but not quite the same. I am sure it is not an age thing!

  • Family thankful for prayers during recent surgery

Kayden Clark and family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during Kayden's recent surgery to remove a brain tumor.

A special thanks to everyone that donated to the Kayden Clark Medical Fund, and those who sold raffle tickets and organized the benefit auction.

Thanks to Boils Realty for helping with the benefit auction.

    Thank you.

  • Coach thanks school district

Recently, I was honored to represent Taylor County High School and the Kentucky High School Coaches Association as one of eight finalists for the National High School Baseball Coach of the Year Award. The event sponsored by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association honored coaches from across the country in 19 sport categories and was held in Jackson Hole, Wyo.

  • Harker says keep animals out of hot cars this summer

Thank you for the article "Residents cautioned about children in hot cars," dated June 18, 2014. However, I wish the article had read, "Residents cautioned about all living creatures in hot cars."

Every year, hundreds of animals (dogs, cats, etc.) suffer and die when their guardians make the mistake of leaving them in a parked car - even for "just a minute" - while they run an errand.

  • Proud of Taylor County

    Taylor Countians are pretty lucky.

Our community is full of people who pitch in to help others, and most of the time for nothing monetary in return, only the satisfaction of making a difference in someone else's lives.

There are three specific examples I can give you of this happening just in the past few days.

First, a committee of people put together last Friday night's annual Relay for Life events to raise money to fight cancer.
