  • Support Marcum for jailer

I am writing to express my support for Eddie "Hack" Marcum as candidate for Taylor County jailer. I have known Marcum for many years, both professionally and personally. He is a hard worker who strives to do the best job in whatever endeavor he chooses.

I believe his prior law enforcement and business management experience make him the best candidate for jailer of Taylor County.

  • Vote Newton for sheriff

This letter is to endorse Allen Newton for Taylor County sheriff.

Newton is a hard-working Taylor County boy who has many years of experience in the Taylor County Sheriff's Department. More importantly, he can relate to people and doesn't look down on people.

I have worked close to the courthouse for 30 years, and I know Newton will operate the sheriff's office with fairness and common sense. We don't have to guess and wonder about that. We know him and he knows us.

  • Support Rogers as judge

This letter is to add our voice of support to Judge Eddie Rodgers in his re-election campaign because we lived, first hand, the dedication and hard work he does for Taylor County. As a young business that wished to locate in Taylor County, Rogers was our constant help and support. He used his relationships in Frankfort to bring our company and the jobs we had hoped to provide for the people of Taylor County to the attention of everyone from the governor of your great state to the Kentucky State Economic Development Division, all of whom worked on our behalf.

  • Wasson for PVA

We are writing this letter in support of Joey Wasson, PVA candidate. We feel Wasson is the right man for this job. He is honest, intelligent, hard working, positive and above all certainly a great person.

  • Support Allen for mayor

With the upcoming election and the strong desire for change that is sweeping across the nation, I wish to voice my concerns. While I too desire a drastic change in the political realm throughout this nation, we have a local office that I feel at this time does not need change. I am speaking of our mayor's office.

At this time of economic hardship, now more than ever, we need experience in this office to handle our tax money, not someone with no experience or knowledge of this job.

  • Vote Marcum for jailer

My name is Patricia Murphy. I have a criminal justice degree and I have worked at the Marion Adjustment Center, Marion County Detention Center and Northpoint Training Center.

I read Hack Marcum's piece in the CKNJ and I commend his idea of having the inmates prepare their own meals and maintain a kitchen. An inmate needs that responsibility to maintain a productive jail at the lowest cost possible. I was shocked when I found out that the canteen and kitchen at the Taylor County Detention Center was contracted out.

  • Vote for Conway

I'm writing to ask you to vote for Jack Conway and not Rand Paul. Here's why.

President Obama isn't very popular in Kentucky, and a lot of people have said that if we send Conway to Washington, he's just going to represent Obama.

Between Republicans and Democrats, it's like the "War Between The States." Each side sticks together - although the Democrats are not as used to this as the Republicans. It looks like you have to choose between Paul and the Republicans, and Conway and the Democrats.

But there is another way to look at it.

  • Rogers for judge/executive

Last Thanksgiving Eve at 3:30 in the afternoon, there was one car, and I mean one, in downtown Campbellsville. It belonged to Eddie Rogers. He was the only person working downtown.

That is called dedication, folks. In the midst of a global recession, Campbellsville has faired pretty well. There is a reason for that: because of hard-working people like Rogers. He was working when nobody else was.

    Vote for Eddie Rogers.

  • Rhode Island student needs help

I am writing from Pawtucket, R.I., one of the smallest states in the U.S.A. I am doing a geography project that will take a whole semester to do. The complete project involves an oral report and a poster on the state of Kentucky.

Please publish this in your paper so your readers could help me with my project. My teacher explained that first hand information from citizens of Kentucky would be much better.

  • Support the Walsh team

As a member of Bill Walsh's team in his bid for Taylor County Sheriff, I want to speak on our behalf.

Much has been made of the KSP background of several of us, and a lot of mud has been slung - often a sign of desperation. I'm not here to meet dirt with dirt. My message is simple, straight and clean: Bill Walsh as sheriff is the right man at the right time for the right reasons.
