  • Durham delivers at plate, on mound

    Campbellsville High School tallied two runs in the 10th inning to post a 8-6 baseball triumph at John Hardin on Friday.
    Zach Durham, who got the Eagle win in relief, also had three hits and four runs batted in to pace the visitors’ attack.
    Clayton Russell and Caleb Gupton had two hits apiece.

    • The Eagles fell 3-1 at Green County on Monday as Colton Bush allowed only three CHS hits. Austin Hash was saddled with the Eagle loss despite allowing only five Dragon safeties.

  • Dabney, Cards dominate Washington 10-0

     

  • Green dominant again in Heartland track

    Green County High School claimed 15 individual races and all eight relay events to easily capture the Heartland Athletic Conference girls’ and boys’ team titles on April 25.
    The brother/sister act of Evan and Erin Jaggers, who won the Ewing Awards as the meet’s top performers, paced coach Will Hodges’ team to the team championships.

    It’s about that time of year again, where students don black, red or purple gowns and cardboard hats and walk across a stage. Graduation is upon us, followed by the dog days of summer.

    This time of year is always full of excitement and a bit of apprehension. Students might not know what is ahead of them and could be a bit scared of the real world. This time of year always makes me nostalgic.

  • Fire damages Old Lebanon Road home

    A home on Old Lebanon Road was damaged by fire on Sunday night.

    Taylor County Fire & Rescue personnel responded to a report of a fire at 9325 Old Lebanon Road at about 10 p.m.

    According to a Taylor County Fire & Rescue report, firefighters found a garage at the home, owned by Robert Rogers, fully involved in fire.

    The fire was contained to the garage, the report states, and a vehicle parked inside.

    The cause of the fire hasn't yet been determined.

  • One injured in KY 55 crash

    A Columbia woman was injured after her vehicle overturned on KY 55 on Tuesday morning.

    According to a Taylor County Sheriff's Office report, Jamie Flatt, 20, was driving a 1998 Ford Escort south on KY 55 at 4:15 a.m. when she swerved to miss striking a deer in the roadway. Flatt ran off the roadway and overturned.

    She was transported to Taylor Regional Hospital for treatment and later taken to University of Louisville Hospital. At press time, she was listed in stable condition.

    Taylor County Sheriff's Deputy Rodney Cox investigated.

  • Food Inspections for May 2

    The following businesses were inspected by the Lake Cumberland District Health Department using the scale below.

    • 85 to 100, pass inspection.

    • 70 to 84, business must be reinspected within 30 days.

    • Less than 70, a suspension of permit notice is sent to owner; if owner doesn't reply within 10 days, the permit will be revoked and the business will be closed.
