  • Holmes makes Kentucky, and Campbellsville, very proud

     

    In a week where many Kentucky fans were disappointed to see their basketball Wildcats fall in the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament, another Wildcat continued to make the state, and especially his hometown of Campbellsville, quite proud.

     On Sunday, J.B. Holmes wrapped up another tournament title on the PGA TOUR, winning the Shell Houston Open.

    Chris Brunelle will spend about a month recuperating from a suicide bomber attack that left one soldier dead and Brunelle and another solider burned. All three were in Iraq with the 623rd Field Artillery (Alpha Battery) based in Tompkinsville.

    Darlene Humphress and the Central Kentucky News-Journal have been recognized with the American Cancer Society’s 2004 Media Award for Print Best Single Story for a rural market.

  • Flanagans celebrate anniversary

    Dan and Virginia Flanagan will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception on Sunday, April 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Virginia P. Flanagan Technology Center on the campus at Campbellsville University.

    In lieu of any gifts, the family invites you to write a note of congratulations and memories to be included in a memory book for Dan and Ginny. Dan and Ginny were married on April 4, 1965, at the Jamestown First Baptist Church.

  • TCES Academic Team wins region

    The Taylor County Elementary School academic team participated in the 2015 Regional Governor’s Cup Competition on Tuesday, March 17 (Future Problem Solving and Composition) and Saturday, March 21 (Quick Recall and Written Assessments) in Gamaliel, Ky.

    They are coached by Jamie Corbin and Jessica McCubbin.

  • CHS students take home art awards

    Campbellsville High School students recently entered the annual Campbellsville Woman’s Club art contest and took home some awards.

    Caylie Blair won first place in printmaking. Ming-Jung “Vivian” Kuo was the third-place winner in drawing and Kathryn Doss took home third place in black and white photography. Jo Ann Harris is the CHS art teacher.

    The awards were announced at a reception on Monday, March 30 at First United Methodist Church in Campbellsville.
