  • TRH Wound Healing Center celebrates sixth anniversary

     

    The staff at Taylor Regional Hospital Wound Healing Center recently celebrated its sixth anniversary. The health care specialists at the center provide a treatment plan designed specifically for the patient's individual needs. The center has a healing rate of more than 95 percent.

  • Locals donate hair to Locks of Love

     

    Emma Miles and Sierra DeMurray of Campbellsville recently cut and donated their hair to Locks of Love. Miles is the daughter of Patty Raley. DeMurray is the daughter of Jason and Kay DeMurray.

    Miles donated 10.5 inches and DeMurray cut 11. Kay DeMurray did the cutting.

    Locks of Love is a nonprofit organization that provides hair pieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada who are suffering long-term medical hair loss from an illness.

  • Soule's Chapel church donates food to local families

     

    Soule's Chapel United Methodist Church donated and delivered 27 bags of food to families in Taylor County on April 27 during Impact Taylor County.

    Those making deliveries were Aleah Schwab, Clarice Sublett, Lisa Cheatham and Kim Schwab

  • Campbellsville schools' move still in progress

    Work to reconfigure the Campbellsville Independent School system's buildings is about halfway complete.

    Superintendent Mike Deaton said classrooms are being physically moved and floors sealed and waxed in the process.

    He said new offices are more or less set up and phone lines have been moved. As such, if someone calls the elementary school, he said, the call now rings at the former middle school, which is where students in preschool through third grade will attend class as of August.

  • TCMS names new assistant principal

     

    Though his job title has changed, Shane Cox moved just a few feet to get there.

    Cox, who has served as a teacher in the Taylor County School District for 10 years, was recently named assistant principal of Taylor County Middle School.

    "It's something I've always wanted to do," Cox said. "I'll just be working hand-in-hand with [TCMS Principal Tony] Jewell. Whatever he needs me to do, I'll be his right-hand man."

  • Locals named to Morehead dean's list

    The Morehead State University dean's list for the 2013 spring semester includes Houston Alexander Bragg and Jordan Rainwater of Campbellsville.

    To be named to the list, a student must be enrolled on a full-time basis and achieve at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale for the current semester.

  • Locals named to St. Catharine dean's, president's lists

    St. Catharine College recently announced the list of students who have achieved academic success for the spring 2013 semester, and several Taylor County natives are included.

    The dean's list includes students who had a grade point average of 3.6 to 3.999.

    Students from Taylor County who are named to the list include Miriah Cox, Charles Phillips and Erin Sanders.

    The president's list includes students who completed 12 college-level credit hours and maintained a 4.0 GPA.

  • Hovious graduates from Brescia University

    Jennifer Lee Hovious of Campbellsville graduated from Brescia University on May 11. She received a Bachelor of Social Work and graduated summa cum laude.

    Hovious also received a High Scholastic Achievement Award at honors convocation on April 28.

    Brescia University is a coeducational, Catholic, liberal arts university located in downtown Owensboro.

    Since 1950, Brescia has been educating the Owensboro community and beyond through traditional, online, evening and weekend class formats.

  • Taylor Countians graduate from SCC

    Kelly Isaacs and Shenandoah Grafflin graduated from St. Catharine College on May 11 during its annual commencement ceremony.

    Isaacs received a degree in vascular sonography and Grafflin a degree in nursing.

    St. Catharine College conferred 159 degrees during the commencement ceremony in Lourdes Hall gymnasium.

  • Richerson graduates from Centre College

    Malcolm Richerson of Campbellsville received a Bachelor of Arts degree in government at Centre College's commencement ceremony on May 19.

    While at Centre, Richerson studied abroad in China.

    He is the son of David and Teresa Richerson of Campbellsville and is a Taylor County High School graduate.
