    10 Years Ago — 2007

    The Trotter House, an apartment house on Broadway across from the Campbellsville/Taylor County Fire Department and formerly owned by Dr. James and Sherri Angel, was torn down Wednesday. Campbellsville University purchased the house and formal medical clinic across from CVS Pharmacy in July. The university is planning to construct a building for its school of business where the house once stood.

    10 years Ago

    Frances Curry is this year’s Taylor County Homemaker of the Year.

    She tended a garden for more than four decades and made the majority of her and her daughter’s clothes. She has also crocheted throws and made quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She pieced her first quilt at age nine.

    Gladys Beard McKinley will be 96 years old on Oct. 1. Born near Roley in Casey County, McKinley is one of 10 children of the late George and Melcena Beard. She married Garnett McKinley and they raised six children.

    Taylor County Girl Scout Troop 222 participated in the official flag retirement ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 9.

    Upward Bound Quartet will be singing Sunday during Yuma Baptist Church’s homecoming.

    This year, the Campbellsville Child Development Center is celebrating its 10th year of ministering to children through its daycare and after-school program.

    Campbellsville residents Sparkie Taylor and Erika Gaines performed gospel music Friday night at the second concert of this year’s Music in the Park series.

    Taylor County High’s Hannah Ellis ad Kimberly Parker recently returned from the Governor’s School for the Arts program.

    Claudia Murphy will celebrate her 90th birthday on Saturday, Sept. 29.

    Campbellsville Christian Church sent a mission team to Pascagoula, Miss., June 13-20. The team completed home repairs on six homes that were damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

    Glen and Connie Gupton of Greensburg will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 23.

  • Dragons come back to burn TC

    Taylor County High School scored the game’s first two touchdowns, but were overcome by Green County’s Dragons 30-28 on Friday night in Greensburg.
    Wes Oliver and Logan Parker scored on runs of 34 and 3 yards, respectively, and Will Miller tacked on extra points for a 14-0 Cardinal cushion.
    It was Green County’s turn to score two touchdowns in the second frame for a 14-14 half-time deadlock.
    Oliver answered for the Cardinals in the third period and Miller’s PAT made it 21-14 TCHS heading to the final 12 minutes.
