    Police investigate theft

    Kentucky State Police are investigating a theft in which businesses are targets.

    According to a press release, a male representing the Accord Group of Orlando, Fla. has been approaching area businesses, offering to analyze the business and then saying that he has potential buyers for that business.

    Police say the man is currently under investigation for theft by deception for allegedly taking money for services and then disappearing.

  • Cash honored with support award

    Campbellsville native Christopher Cash, center, received a Driver Testing Administrative Support Award from B/G Norman Arflack, secretary of the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, left, and Kentucky State Police Commissioner Jack Adams, right. The presentation took place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Lexington on Oct. 11. A seven-year employee of the Kentucky State Police, Cash serves as a driver's license examiner for Allen, Barren, Hart and Metcalfe counties. He lives in Glasgow and is a 1988 graduate of Campbellsville High School.

  • Browning Kids Corner

    Adrian Grace and Brianna Elizabeth are the twin daughters of Jamie and Jessica Browning of Campbellsville. They were born on Monday, Oct. 1 at the University of Louisville Hospital. Their grandparents are Kenny and Cathie Browning and Mike and Carol Elmore, all of Campbellsville. Great-grandparents are Tommy and Lois Daffron and Peggy Elmore, all of Campbellsville, Polly Schwartzmiller of Jasper, Ind., and the late Leo Schwartzmiller, Mac Elmore and Charles and "Ma" Browning.

  • They are only kids once

    Today is Halloween. My 79-year-old father and my 76-year-old mother drove more than 600 miles from Missouri to take my children trick-or-treating. This is something they have done for many years, and each year we worry this will be the last year they will be able to make the trip.

    I rushed home today after work to help my children get into their costumes, only to find out that they had homework.

    Their summers have been shortened to almost nothing. Now you're taking Halloween away from them, too?

    Mr. and Mrs. Chester Lawson will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 16.

    Air Force Airman Daniel Ramsey has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

    Dominique Coulter, 14-year-old son of Paul and Sheila Nuckols, is attending a six-week short course session at the Kentucky School for the Blind.

    Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Campbellsville will have its annual Thanksgiving social on Saturday, Nov. 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the church hall.

  • Slow start dooms CU in regular-season debut

    Campbellsville University never overcame a slow start and dropped its regular-season opener 86-84 on Saturday to Union University in Jackson, Tenn.

    After an early deadlock at 2-2, the Bulldogs used a 22-5 run to build a 24-7 cushion.

    The Tigers cut the deficit to 10 before Union reeled off another 12-2 run to post its largest lead of 20 points (47-27) with 4:12 remaining in the first half.

    Campbellsville cut the Union lead to seven (49-42) at the half and kept second-half momentum but could never take the lead due mainly to dismal 8-19 shooting from the charity stripe.

  • Residential nominations for National Register

    Plans are being made at this time to pursue a Campbellsville Residential Historic District nomination for historic properties in the Lebanon Avenue, Duffy Street, Jackson Street, High Street, North Central Avenue and Maple Street residential areas.

    The listing in the National Register provides recognition of the importance of a historic property, but it does not place any obligation or legal restriction on the use of the property by the owner.

  • Christmas ornaments on sale now

    The Campbellsville Renaissance/Historic Preservation Commission is selling a new Christmas ornament this year featuring Bethel First Presbyterian Church.

    The church is etched on a flat glass ornament with a gold ribbon. The history of the church is included in a gold gift box.

    A limited number of ornaments are available for sale at Tucker Diamonds and Gold, Merle Norman, Mitchell's Men's Wear, Purcell's Business Products, Chandler's Office Supply, Campbellsville City Hall and the Team Taylor County office on Broadway.

    Cost is $10 each.

    The annual Kilby family and friends reunion took place Saturday, Oct. 20 at Acton Retreat Center with 48 people present.
