  • Man charged with burglary

    A Campbellsville man has been arrested and charged with burglary after he was found with items stolen from a Davis Road home.

    According to a Taylor County Sheriff's Office report, William Russell Walls, 21, of 103A Cedar St. was arrested at 9:21 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9.

    The report states that sheriff's deputies found a video game console and games, a DVD player, a laptop computer and video camera that were stolen Friday, Nov. 7 from the Davis Road home.

    Walls was charged with second-degree burglary and receiving more than $300 in stolen property.

  • Next arts series event features choir

    The Central Kentucky Arts Series announces the third performance of the 2008-2009 season, the Southern Illinois University Concert Choir, under the direction of Dr. Susan Davenport.

    The choir will perform Monday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. The choir, selected by audition, is composed of students in the music department as well as students with extensive choral expertise. 

  • Santa's Helper nominees accepted

    Santa Claus has helpers each year during the holiday season. Yet, many people in Taylor County give of themselves all year long. If you know of such a person, the Campbellsville Kiwanis would like to honor that person.

    Kiwanis are seeking the person who most embodies the Christmas spirit everyday - all year long. And they'll name that person this year's Santa's Helper.

  • TRH to host 'Diabetes Day'

    In recognition of November being Diabetes Awareness Month, Taylor Regional Hospital will host a "Diabetes Day" on Monday, Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the TRH meeting room. 

    Educational material will be available as well as sessions on diabetes management.

  • Alumni to be honored at LWC homecoming

    The Lindsey Wilson College National Alumni Association will honor four alumni - including a Campbellsville man - when the college's celebrates its 77th Alumni Homecoming Weekend on Nov. 7-8.

    The four alumni will be honored at the annual Alumni Homecoming Banquet at 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 8 in Roberta D. Cranmer Dining and Conference Center.

    Also on Saturday will be the annual homecoming parade; a golden reunion for the classes of 1957-1959; and reunions for the classes of 1962-1964, 1967-1969, 1977-1979, 1987-1989 and 1997-1999.

  • Police search for man's killer

    Police are investigating the apparent murder of a Campbellsville man Thursday night.

    According to a Taylor County Sheriff's Office report, Shafter J. Couch, 26, was shot and killed at about 10 p.m. at his Taylor Chapel Road home.

    Police say it appears that someone waited outside of Couch's kitchen window and shot him when he entered the room.

    Taylor County Coroner Terry Dabney said Couch died "fairly instantly from a gunshot wound to the neck."

  • Benefit planned for Hollins family

    A benefit, featuring a gospel singing, auction and chili supper, has been planned for the Beverly Hollins family.

    Hollins died in a motorcycle collision in August. Her husband, Matt, is recovering from injuries he received in the wreck.

    The Hollins family has three children, Kyrie, Cassie and Jared.

    Proceeds collected from the benefit, which is Friday, will go toward the purchase of a headstone for Hollins' grave and to provide for other family needs.

    The benefit will begin at 7 p.m. at the Community Center. Russ Milby will sing.

  • TCHS Class of 1988 planning reunion

    The Taylor County High School Class of 1988 will have its 20-year reunion on Saturday, Nov. 8.

  • LWC to host luncheon for veterans

    The Lindsey Wilson College community will host its annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon on Monday, Nov. 10.

    The luncheon begins at noon ET in Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center.

    The luncheon is open to veterans and their spouses and also to veterans' widows and widowers. There is no charge to veterans, veterans' spouses, or widows and widowers of veterans.
