  • Council approves one-call plan

    A tornado has been spotted in the northern tip of Taylor County. With a few clicks of a computer mouse, 911 dispatchers record a message and 10 minutes later, the entire county has been notified of the approaching danger.

    Though it may be a scenario few hope to experience, it will be possible thanks to a new tool local emergency personnel will soon have for notifying residents of emergencies.

    The program, One Call Now, can send out a pre-recorded message to as many as 5,000 phone numbers per minute.

  • Walters earns degree at WKU

    Jesse Walters graduated from Western Kentucky University on Dec. 15 with a bachelor of science degree in biology.

    Walters is continuing his education at Western, pursuing his master's.

    He is the son of Gary and Denise Walters. His grandparents are Donald and Vivian Christie, Hazel Walters and the late Charles Walters and Connie Christie.

    Shannon Thomas and Chris Clark, both of Campbellsville, will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, March 29.

    Thomas is the daughter of Richard and Vivian Thomas of Princeton. Her grandparents are Don Thomas and Doris Thomas, both of Princeton, Mariam Haile of Bonita Springs, Fla. and the late Zane Haile.

  • Rhythm gets students moving for fitness

    Campbellsville Middle School's fifth graders recently completed a Latin American dance unit where students learned the dance techniques for the salsa and the cha-cha-cha.

    Physical education classes taught by Kelly Baugh and music classes taught by Nicole Matthews were combined for this special unit, which also included the Virginal reel dance, an American folk dance and the Hora, a Jewish ceremonial dance.

  • Birth Announcements for 1-10

    Kristina Grant and David Ford of Lebanon announce the birth of a daughter, Kinzlee Rhiana Ford, at 7:46 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville. She weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Grandparents are Anita and Banner Shoe of Greensburg and Rick and Carolyn Ford of Elk Horn.

    Great-grandparents are Jim and Sally Grant of Willington, Conn. and Bradley and Linda Callahan of Feathersburg.
