  • Taylor County STLP students advance to state competition

    Six Student Technology Leadership Program members from Taylor County high, middle and elementary schools have advanced to the state STLP competition, which will take place in May at Lexington's Rupp Arena.

    Taylor County High School's STLP projects were Cardinal Financial and School Security: Fact or Fantasy?

    Students from Taylor County High included Hannah Allen, Jefra Bland, Michael Coulter, Brandie Cox, Dusty Cox, Isaac Harris, Samantha Lile, Justin Mardis, Dillon Mays, Trevor McWhorter, Shane Morris, Megan Peake and Wes Ward.

  • Road issues continue to face Fiscal Court

    Despite their objections at last month's meeting, magistrates took the first step Tuesday night toward having County-wide subdivision regulations.

    Magistrates also agreed to accept two more gravel roads into the County road system, despite adopting a resolution in November that states they will no longer accept roads that have not been blacktopped.

    Magistrates discussed both road issues Tuesday night at the regular monthly Fiscal Court meeting.

  • TCHS Chorus presents annual Christmas concert

    Taylor County High School's Choral Music Department presented its annual Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 16 at Campbellsville University's Ransdell Chapel.

    The combined chorus included the women's choir, men's choir, concert choir and chamber choir.

    Lisa Gupton is the TCHS choral director. Others assisting during the event were Brandon Centers, assistant choral director; Brittany Benningfield, student teacher; and Edwina Rowell, accompanist.

  • AMBER Alert program marks 10 years in operation

    AMBER Alert Awareness Day is Sunday, Jan. 13 and the Kentucky State Police is urging all Kentuckians to participate in this emergency notification system designed to help locate abducted children.

    In 2007, five AMBER Alerts were activated in Kentucky. All of the children were located unharmed.

  • Dr. Coyle joins dental practice of Dr. Marlene Richardson

    Dr. Abby Coyle has joined Dr. Marlene Richardson's dental practice at 1485 Old Lebanon Road.

    Coyle is a 2005 graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. She is a native of Springfield, Ky. and is trained in all aspects of dentistry, including dentures.

  • Campbellsville National now Forcht Bank

    Campbellsville National Bank is now Forcht Bank (pronounced "fork"), a subsidiary of Forcht Bancorp, formerly known as First Corbin Bancorp. The name change reflects combining Campbellsville National Bank with the other nine separate bank charters owned by Forcht Bancorp into one bank operation.

    The total assets for Forcht Bancorp, including the recent acquisition of Eagle Fidelity in Grant County, now total more than $1 billion, making it one of the Top 10 bank holding groups based in Kentucky, according to data from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.

  • IBC receives $25,000 grant

    The Lincoln Trail Innovation Center has announced that IBC (Innovative Building Component) Technologies is a recent recipient of a $25,000 grant awarded by the Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation under the Kentucky Enterprise Fund.

    This fund is provided by the state through the Council on Postsecondary Education in support of Kentucky's knowledge based economy. Thirty-eight awards were recently made to start-up companies throughout the state of Kentucky with these awards totaling more than $2,000,000.

  • State Junior Miss program is this weekend

    More than $18,000 in scholarship dollars and more than $1 million of in-kind gifts are up for grabs at the 50th anniversary of the Kentucky Junior Miss program.

    The preliminary state competitions will take place on Friday, Jan. 11 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 12 at 1:30 p.m. at the Singletary Center on the University of Kentucky campus in Lexington. Finals will be Saturday at 8 p.m.

    Thirty-seven high school senior girls will compete to represent Kentucky at the national competition in Alabama on June 26-28.
