  • Tribute to a hero

    The words echoed down Main Street for all to hear. "We shall overcome, we shall overcome someday," sang the crowd of about 50 who marched from Campbellsville Middle School to the Campbellsville University campus.

    This weekend's annual events were aimed at keeping the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. alive. A pivotal figure in the Civil Rights Movement, King was shot and killed in Memphis, Tenn. on April 4, 1968.

  • Thomas-Bright

    Jamie Rene' Thomas and John Marshall Bright, both of Danville, will exchange wedding vows on Friday, Feb. 29.

    Thomas is the daughter of Juanita Hardgrove of Danville and the late Wilbur Hardgrove.

    She is a 1981 graduate of Boyle County High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University. She is employed with Boyle County Board of Education as a kindergarten instructional assistant at Woodlawn Elementary. She is also a hostess at the Danville Cracker Barrel.

    Bright is the son of Geneva Bright of Campbellsville and the late Harse Bright.

  • Mt. Roberts hosting faith sharing training course

    Mt. Roberts Baptist Church is hosting a faith sharing training course titled "The Way of the Master."

    The course began on Jan. 20 and will continue each Sunday through March 9. Classes begin at 6 p.m.

    The church is located at 989 Mac Pittman Road in Campbellsville.

  • Birth Announcements for Jan. 24

    Anthony Scott and Reva Jean Rapier of Greensburg announce the birth of a son, Scott Wesley, at 9:40 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 30 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville. He weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces and was 19 inches long.

    Grandparents are John and Janrose Rapier of Greensburg and Nell Marcum of Hopkinsville.

    Dayna Holmes and Sean A. Estes of Campbellsville announce the birth of twin daughters, Madison Danielle Estes and Chyenne Kailen Estes, on Sunday, Jan. 6 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville.

  • Animal shelter expansion complete

    If the shrill chorus of barks reveals anything, it's that the Taylor County Animal Shelter is now home to nearly four times the number of animals it once was.

    A recently completed expansion at the Taylor County Animal Shelter has given shelter employees 98 cages in which to house stray animals. Shelter cages used to total 28.

    The shelter received a $51,000 grant last year to expand its facility, which is located off KY 210, just past Wal-Mart and behind the Taylor County Farmers' Market.
