  • Rowell named a dean's scholar at WKU

    Larry Rowell of Campbellsville has achieved the designation of dean's scholar at Western Kentucky University for the fall 2007 semester.

    This honor is given to those students who earn a grade point average ranging from 3.4 to 3.79.

    Rowell is a writer for the College Heights Herald.

  • CU to host pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church

    Dr. Joseph Owens, pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church in Lexington and a member of Campbellsville University's Board of Trustees, will be speaking at Campbellsville University's chapel at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13 at Ransdell Chapel. The event is free and open to the public.

    "Dr. Owens is a 1977 graduate of Campbellsville University, and we are glad to have him back on campus as an alumnus, pastor and member of our Board of Trustees," said John Chowning, vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president.

  • Postal service offers 'Click and Ship' class

    The U.S. Postal Service will be giving a free class on "Click and Ship" at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 in the basement of the Student Union Building at Campbellsville University.

    During the class, which will last about an hour and a half, instructions will be given on how to use the "Click and Ship" feature on the Postal Service Web site and how to incorporate it with ordering from sites such as eBay and others.

  • Free seminar offered on international adoption

    A free seminar on international adoption will be offered on Sunday, Feb. 10 from 2 to 4 p.m.

    Hosted by Children's Hope International at the Louisville Public Library, this meeting will provide information on programs in China, Colombia, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Russia and Vietnam.

  • Joiner delivers annual CU Martin Luther King memorial service

    The Rev. Gerald Joiner, Campbellsville University alumnus and member of the CU Church Relations Council, said, in a recent address, that he believes Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would not be satisfied with the overall statistics today, which show far too many young black men in prisons and far too many teen pregnancies among young black women.

    Joiner, a 1975 graduate of CU, delivered the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Worship Service in Campbellsville University's Ransdell Chapel on Wednesday,Jan. 23.

  • National Cervical Cancer Awareness Month: Ending cervical cancer in our lifetime

    In Kentucky and throughout the nation, cervical cancer is a disease that occurs with alarming frequency, harming tens of thousands of women each year. According to the American Cancer Society, about 3,700 women will die nationwide this year from cervical cancer, with more than 11,150 new cases diagnosed.

  • Dr. Eugene Shively elected to Southeast Surgical Congress

    Dr. Eugene H. Shively has been elected to the council of the Southeast Surgical Congress. Shively is a general surgeon who practices in Campbellsville and has practiced at Taylor Regional Hospital for more than 30 years.

    The Southeast Surgical Congress is a regional surgical organization that provides opportunities for surgeons and surgeons-in-training to come together for educational, scientific and social purposes to promote and advance the study and practice of surgery.

  • Citizens Bank helps provide learning tools at Taylor County Middle School

    Taylor County Middle School has received a $10,000 donation from Citizens Bank of Campbellsville and a $10,000 Universal Design for Learning Grant from the University of Louisville.

    These funds will be used to purchase new technologies for TCMS classrooms, according to Linda Beal, district technology coordinator.

    These technologies will include Dukane LCD projectors and Dukane sound systems mounted in the ceiling, interactive whiteboards and student interactive response systems.
